Game porting is not just moving a game from one platform to another. Planet of Lana was 7GB of assets built for gamepads and console screens. Getting it onto iOS and Android meant compressing that to 3GB, keeping the base APK under 200MB, and testing across 15-20 devices to cover 90% of real users. We finished with a crash rate below 2 per 10,000 sessions. That's the technical side. The harder part was a game built around the absence of UI. No buttons unless absolutely necessary. The atmosphere was the product. Every control we added to a touchscreen was a decision that could break what made Planet of Lana worth playing. The carousel below shows how we solved it. Most mobile games die not because of bad design — But because of bad performance. Here's a Unity trick I use on EVERY project to instantly reduce draw calls and improve FPS on Android & iOS: Use GPU Instancing + Static Batching together ✅ Repeated objects (coins, enemies, trees) → enable GPU Instancing on the material ✅ Non-moving background objects → mark Static in Inspector ✅ Always watch your Stats window while in Play mode — see draw calls drop in real time On one recent Android game, this dropped draw calls from 340 → 80. Building a bigger stage for PC titles on Play is all about making games easier to find and buy — without creating extra maintenance for developers. As a reminder, the new Game Trials offering is added directly into your Android App Bundle, so you don’t have to create a separate codebase or demo version to opt in. The team has also built in guardrails to protect your game while the trial is active. Trials are limited to once per user, and we’re working on new controls that will let you specify a custom time limit or in-game event to end the session. It’s just one part of our plan to expand support for PC games and help you turn high-intent buyers into loyal fans. Games Trials will roll out to more titles soon, so stay tuned for updates!
