Vice President of Tax

Position: Vice President, Tax

Location: New York, NY

We are partnering with a leading alternative investment firm seeking a Vice President of Tax to join their growing team in New York. This role will focus on partnership tax across private equity, credit, and/or real estate strategies, with significant exposure to complex fund structures and transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and review of partnership tax returns (Form 1065) and related investor reporting (K-1s) across multiple fund vehicles
• Manage the tax lifecycle for funds, including structuring, compliance, and investor reporting
• Review and analyze complex partnership allocations, waterfalls, and carried interest calculations
• Support tax planning and structuring for new investments, fund launches, and transactions
• Partner closely with internal teams including legal, finance, and investor relations, as well as external advisors
• Manage relationships with external tax providers and ensure timely and accurate filings
• Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation impacting funds and investors

Qualifications:

• 8–10 years of relevant tax experience, with a focus on partnership tax
• Experience working with private equity, credit, and/or real estate funds
• Background in public accounting (Big 4 or similar) with additional experience in private industry strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of partnership allocations, fund structures, and complex transactions
• CPA required; MST or JD/LLM is a plus
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with senior stakeholders
