About the Role

Join our team in Austin, TX at the intersection of power systems, renewable energy, and data-driven engineering. As part of the Transmission & Interconnection team, you will support real-world grid integration challenges for utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects.


This is a hands-on, high-impact co‑op—you’ll contribute directly to work that influences how projects connect to the grid.


📅 Start Date: June 4, 2026

Duration: Minimum ~6 months, with potential extension up to 12+ months


You’ll work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment, gaining exposure to real project data, industry tools, and technical problem-solving, with strong mentorship throughout.


What You’ll Do

  • Support generation interconnection studies (injection and withdrawal analyses)
  • Assist with power flow, contingency, and sensitivity analyses
  • Validate, troubleshoot, and document technical approaches
  • Translate technical results into clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborate across engineering and technical teams
  • Improve workflow efficiency, consistency, and data quality
  • Use tools such as PowerWorld, PSS®E, and TARA
  • Build Python-based automation tools for large-scale studies
  • Develop and maintain databases (MySQL / SQLite)
  • Create visualizations and dashboards (maps, plots, summaries)


What You’ll Gain

By the end of the co‑op, you will understand how real-world power system studies are performed—and how to improve them through automation and data-driven insights.


Qualifications:

🎓 Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in:
  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (power systems focus highly preferred)

Required Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of power systems or electrical fundamentals
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Comfort working with data, models, and technical tools

➕ Preferred Skills

Exposure to (or interest in learning):

  • Power system tools (PowerWorld, PSS®E)
  • Data tools (SQL, Pandas, NumPy)
  • Visualization tools (matplotlib, Plotly, GIS)
  • Interest in automation and process improvement
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Previous experience in energy, power systems, or engineering analytics (a plus, not required)
