Payroll Manager (Onsite – Washington, DC)


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end U.S. payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Lead payroll tax activities, including reconciliations, filings, amendments, and year-end reporting
  • Manage garnishments, deductions, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Serve as the Workday Payroll subject matter expert, owning configuration, integrations, and system enhancements
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy
  • Partner with HRIS, Finance, and Benefits to streamline workflows and ensure seamless data integration
  • Develop reporting and dashboards to track payroll metrics, trends, and compliance
  • Support general ledger postings, reconciliations, and audit readiness in collaboration with Finance
  • Lead year-end payroll processes, including W-2 processing and audits
  • Mentor and develop payroll team members, fostering a high-performance environment
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • 5+ years of Workday Payroll expertise (configuration, integrations, reporting, timekeeping)
  • Proven experience in modernizing payroll through automation and process improvement
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong proficiency in reporting tools and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines


Preferred:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Workday certification

Work Environment

  • Fully onsite role in Washington, DC (5 days/week)
