The Construction Project Engineer I is an entry level Construction Management position to gain insightful knowledge of and experience in the construction process. The Project Engineer I will be responsible for document controls and will perform field inspections for various construction activities at the project site to verify that construction work is in compliance with the plans and specifications. Under general supervision, they will manage specific subcontract agreements, participate in both OAC and Subcontractor meetings. Various duties may be assigned to the Project Engineer I that pertain to administrative tasks to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the Company’s construction processes. The following types of responsibilities will be increasingly assigned based on performance, level of competence and confidence in the Austin Processes with the goal of successful projects and promotion to Project Engineer II. The Project Engineer position is the first step in the career of Construction Management and will train for advancement into various Construction Management positions or for work in other departments within the company.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Normally requires a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and/or 0 to 3+ years of Project Engineer experience or related construction field experience.
Preferred Experience
Procore experience
Work Environment
Must be able to travel to and work at the project site, this travel may be up to 100%.

- Frequently work in a loud environment.
- Frequently work outdoors in high and low temperatures.
- Occasionally may work in high and/or precarious places
- Occasionally may work indoors.
- Must be able to work around and be near heavy machinery.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for travel to project sites and client meetings.
Must be able to travel to and work at the project site, this travel may be up to 100%.

- Provide administration/management of document controls for the site office including ensuring Subcontractors are working from the most current documents and work product meets current design.
- Inspect work as it is installed to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications.
- Assist with the performance of specific management type tasks as directed by the Project Superintendent to assist them in completing work on the project.
- Assist in reviewing subcontractor reports and compiling for the daily construction reports.
- Conduct site orientation for new workers.
- Promote safety in all construction operations to limit or reduce accidents.
- Conduct site safety and housekeeping audits.
- Monitor and record manhours and safety-related statistics.
- Assist with facilitation of Schedule Review Meetings and Pull Planning Sessions as required to manage project schedule and milestone schedules.
- Produce pertinent documents through operation of the project management system (Procore) to provide required information to keep project on schedule. These documents include but are not limited to RFIs, Submittals, Non-Compliance notifications, Management Logs, Change Order Request, Owner Change Order Requests, Meeting Minutes, and other specific documents.
