The Assistant, Human Resources will provide administrative support to functional areas of Human Resources including timecard processing, expense management, employee communication, background checks, unemployment verifications, data requests, onboarding activities, and various projects. This position supports the department as a whole to accomplish initiatives and objectives in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm.

Qualifications and experience:
In addition to the Firm’s health and welfare benefits above, we offer a competitive paid time off plan, which provides a minimum of 20 days off based on your role and tenure with the firm. The firm offers a generous paid parental leave benefit allowing parents to take a minimum of 14 weeks of paid leave to bond with your newborn, or adopted child(ren). The Assistant, Human Resources will provide administrative support to functional areas of Human Resources including timecard processing, expense management, employee communication, background checks, unemployment verifications, data requests, onboarding activities, and various projects. This position supports the department as a whole to accomplish initiatives and objectives in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process employee timecards to ensure timely completion; answer time entry-related questions from employees and managers, investigate timecard issues; and train new supervisors to approve timecards
- Monitor department email boxes and respond to, or facilitate, timely responses to employees
- Complete team expense processing and reimbursements, as well as support the Chief People and Development Officer with their expenses and reimbursements
- Complete vendor expenses and track renewals for team budget management
- Assist with HRIS data entry, including new hire and termination processing, benefit updates and general employee updates
- Serves as the primary contact for verbal or written employment verifications for current and former employees. Responsible for background check processing
- Support and lead new hire orientation for new hires
- Support responses to survey and data requests
- Utilize excel to synthesize data by using filters
- Support the internal conflicts request process to ensure compliance with firm policies
- Assist with internal engagement events and projects
- Draft job descriptions
- Create, update, and document standard operating procedures, guidelines, and best practices for processes and tasks assigned
- Provide administrative support to all Human Resources functional areas and assistance with on-going projects, as needed

Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- In lieu of bachelor’s degree, 4 years of relevant human resources experience
- Previous experience in human resources, recruitment, or benefits preferred
- Previous experience in a law firm or professional services setting preferred
- Spreadsheet and database or Workday experience a plus
- Demonstrate good judgment and accountability for delivering excellent service
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills; both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professionalism, personal integrity and high degree of confidentiality
- Strong computer and technical skills
- Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry skills, and ability to learn new programs and systems quickly
- Proficient in Excel tools – including pivot tables, charts, and filters
- Self-starter, with flexibility to work overtime as needed
