    Dallas is ranked the 3rd best city in America for starting a new business. About 11% of all businesses in the DFW area are startups active for less than a year and they have a survival rate of nearly 65%. Texas saw a 14% increase in new business formations year over year, outpacing the national average. So it all makes perfect sense why Walmart chose the amazing city of Dallas as its latest Road to Open Call stop. Road to Open Call is not a pitch competition. It is a direct pipeline to Walmart and Sam's Club buyers for founders with American-made products that are ready for national retail. Walmart has committed $350 billion to products made, grown, or assembled in the U.S. by 2031. Their Grow with Us program also offers free training, mentorship, and access to financial support for small businesses trying to navigate retail and scale nationally. Open Call is the centerpiece of that commitment.     This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, we’re grateful for associates like Elizabeth who remind us why access to care matters.

    May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which feels like a good time to reflect on how access to care can truly change lives.    At Sam's Club and Walmart, we’ve been talking about a new neurodiversity benefit for associates that provides neuropsychological evaluations in about four weeks or less, at $0 cost under most medical plans. It’s a benefit shaped by what we know to be true: getting answers sooner can make all the difference.    We’re also supporting caregivers with access to coaching from board-certified behavioral analysts – available to any associate, with no diagnosis or medical plan enrollment required.    I’m incredibly proud to be part of a company that continues to listen and show up for associates in meaningful ways. And I’m especially proud of Sam’s Club’s own Elizabeth Brown for courageously sharing her story about why mental health support matters.     What does modern merchandising really look like today at Walmart? For me, it’s moving from a fashion pop-up in SoHo, surrounded by silk, cashmere, and trend, to a dairy facility in Texas focused on delivering fresh milk at scale… and seeing the same strategy come to life in both. Over the past few days, I’ve had the opportunity to connect the dots across very different parts of our business. What stands out is how consistent our focus is: expanding access, creating moments of surprise and delight, and keeping affordability at the center of everything we do. From bringing trend-forward fashion and beauty to more customers, to investing in U.S. manufacturing and strengthening our supply chain, to opening stores that truly reflect their local communities, it’s all part of building a more connected, relevant, and customer-centered experience.     Who knew at Walmart you could turn your passion into a career? For associates like Anabel Perez in Mesquite, Texas, her love for beauty is now fueling her career built on care and expertise. Our new Beauty Expert pilot program gives associates a chance to bring more personalized service, deeper product knowledge and elevated support to customers shopping our Beauty 2.0 spaces. The role also opens a new path for growth with Beauty Experts earning between $14 and $35 an hour, depending on location. Eligible associates also have access to benefits including a 401(k), robust medical coverage, a 10% year-round Walmart associate discount that includes beauty products and Walmart Beauty Boxes to help them build firsthand product knowledge and offer even more informed recommendations. It’s one more way we're investing in our associates and evolving the customer experience.

    Today we opened our third owned and operated milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas. 🎉 This more than $350 million investment will create 400+ new jobs, strengthen our end-to-end supply chain, and help deliver fresh, high-quality, affordable milk to customers and members across the South Central U.S. By sourcing milk directly from local dairy farmers, the 300,000+ square-foot facility will supply more than 650 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs with Great Value and Member’s Mark milk products, improving freshness, consistency, transparency and value from farm to shelf. This milestone reflects our continued commitment to U.S. manufacturing and local sourcing, while supporting the Robinson community through grants to local schools and nonprofits.
