Accounts Payable Lead

Location: Chicago, IL

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 (commensurate with experience)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced AP Lead to oversee the day-to-day accounts payable function for a growing organization in Chicago. This hands-on role is responsible for leading daily AP operations, supporting and guiding AP staff, and ensuring timely, accurate processing of invoices and payments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, and payment runs
• Serve as the point of escalation for AP issues, vendor inquiries, and discrepancies
• Review AP work for accuracy and completeness while providing day-to-day guidance to the team
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and established AP procedures
• Reconcile AP activity to the general ledger and assist with month-end close
• Support audits and participate in process improvement initiatives
  
  

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of accounts payable experience, including a AP Lead/Manager role
• Strong understanding of core AP processes and internal controls
• Experience with ERP systems and Excel
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
