Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees and manages the company’s accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance activities, and cash management processes. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with operational and leadership support across the organization. The position is approximately 25% accounts payable and vendor management, 25% month-end close and financial reporting, and 50% broader accounting management, compliance, process improvement, administrative support, and leadership participation. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Presidents and works closely with department managers and the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Vendor Management
Manage full-cycle AP processing, including invoice coding, approvals, payments, and vendor communication Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure timely payments
Monitor cash disbursements and support vendor relationships
Assist with purchasing controls and expense tracking
Financial Reporting and Month-End Close
Lead monthly and year-end close processes
Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting
Analyze financial results and provide reporting support to leadership
Support external accountants and auditors
Accounting Management and Operational Support
Manage federal and state excise tax reporting and filings
Prepare and file gross receipts tax reports
Oversee inventory and production accounting
Manage cash flow reporting and projections
Participate in budget preparation and departmental planning
Identify and implement accounting and operational process improvements
Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
Provide administrative support and cross-functional assistance
Serve as backup support for HR functions, including payroll and personnel administration
Participate as an active member of the leadership team
Candidate Qualifications
Required
Minimum 5 years of accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience
Strong accounts payable experience
Experience with production and/or inventory accounting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
Experience preparing and filing tax reports (excise and gross receipts preferred)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
High degree of integrity and confidentiality
Preferred
Experience in brewery, manufacturing, food and beverage, or hospitality industries
Prior experience with payroll and/or HR support
Experience with ERP systems and/or POS systems
Associate’s degree in Accounting
