  • The most effective performance conversations don’t just focus on what needs to be fixed. They also help employees understand how to build on their strengths moving forward. In this clip, Pamela E. Pollak, PhD shares why performance conversations are more impactful when they move beyond “fixer mode” and focus on helping employees use their strengths more intentionally. When conversations only focus on problems, they can narrow the discussion. But when managers also recognize what employees are doing well and connect those strengths to future opportunities, employees are more likely to feel engaged, motivated, and clear on what to do next. 💡 The best performance conversations create momentum, not just correction.

  • Employees are more likely to trust feedback when it’s specific. In this clip, Jennifer Handel Richter shares why clear examples create more productive performance conversations and help employees better understand what needs to change. When managers explain the specific situation, behavior, and impact, feedback becomes easier to process and act on. 💡 Specific feedback creates clearer paths for improvement. To help you turn performance reviews into more future-focused coaching conversations, we’ve created a downloadable checklist and guide: https://lnkd.in/ej7a8WH3

  • There’s no shortage of headlines about how AI is transforming work. But the reality inside organizations looks very different. Drawing from our research across 45,000+ job candidates, we’re seeing a clear gap between AI awareness and real workplace adoption. While nearly 70% of candidates have used generative AI, far fewer are using it in their day-to-day work. The challenge isn’t access. It’s relevance. Most candidates are using AI for basic tasks like searching or summarizing information, and many don’t yet see it as an important part of how they work today or in the future. For leaders, this signals something important. Adoption won’t come from investment alone. It will come from clearly connecting AI capabilities to the realities of the role and the work itself. Until then, expectations around AI’s impact will continue to outpace what’s actually happening on the ground. Explore the full findings from 45,000+ job candidates: https://lnkd.in/dAp3nEnT

  • It’s easy to assume we know why an employee did something. We fill in the gaps based on how we would have handled it. But that’s where performance conversations can go off track. In this clip, our speakers share why making assumptions about employee behavior can lead to coaching the wrong thing. What looks like a performance issue could actually be: • A skill gap • A motivation challenge • A misalignment with the job And each of those requires a different approach. When we lead with assumptions, we risk missing the real issue and limiting the employee’s ability to improve. The most effective coaching starts with curiosity, not conclusions.

  • 💡 Manager Tip: Development drives retention when it’s relevant to both the role and the employee. Employees are more likely to stay when they can see how they’re growing and where they’re going. But development only works when it’s clear, connected to their day-to-day work, and aligned with what they’re interested in. Instead of focusing on broad growth areas, take time to: ➤ Align on the skills that matter most for the job ➤ Understand what the employee is interested in developing ➤ Connect development to real responsibilities and upcoming work ➤ Identify one or two focused areas to build over time When development feels relevant and personalized, it creates clarity, builds momentum, and strengthens long-term retention.
