You'll never believe what our CFO Patrick Buchanan discovered in Whole Foods Market's meat section this week... Game Changing moment...price parity between Beyond Meat and grass fed beef per pound?! LFG, the future is now 👊 #endfactoryfarming #eatplants #meatflation
I thought fake meat reaching price parity with real meat was the future. I was wrong. It’s the present. It finally happened - plant-based meat just hit price parity with beef at my local Whole Foods, thanks to #Meatflation – years ahead of schedule. While shopping this past weekend, I did a double take. I was surprised to see 1lb of Beyond Ground at the low price of $7.69 (after the Prime discount). Curious, I wandered over to the butcher’s case, and was blown away to see 1lb of ground meat at $7.99 and $8.99. Enough to give meat eaters a #Meatmare, or at least the meat sweats! But wait, plant-based meats are TERRIBLE for you right? They should be at a discount! You can’t even SPELL those ingredients! Folks may not have looked lately, but Beyond has upped their game: ▪︎ Yellow Pea Protein ▪︎ Avocado Oil ▪︎ Natural Flavors ▪︎ Brown Rice Protein ▪︎ Red Lentil Protein ▪︎ Beet Juice for coloring. It’s basically a protein shake that you can eat on a bun. And, don’t forget what’s missing: ▪︎ Cholesterol ▪︎ Factory farming The bigger story, though, isn’t about Beyond. It’s about beef. ▪︎ Cattle herds in the U.S. are now at a 70-year low. ▪︎ Canada, a key import country, is in a similar situation. ▪︎ Cattle futures have surged 25% in the past year — and historically, those prices lead retail beef costs by ~12 months, suggesting another 10% increase is likely in ’26, minimum, before perhaps the cycle peaks. Add in supply restrictions, including import limits tied to the flesh-eating screwworm outbreak in Central America, and growing global protein demand, and we’re staring at a potential 2026 repeat of the “eggflation” we saw in early ’25 - except it takes a few months to grow a chicken, and years to grow a cow. In other words: 2026 could be the real #Meatmare.

“It's about showing people what's possible. That plant-based isn't about deprivation. It's about discovery and enjoyment. It really can be for everyone.” – Seeing Green Podcast, “Spotlight: Next Level Veggie Grill” Meet Next Level Veggie Grill… the largest vegan and vegetarian fast-casual network in the U.S., and the Seeing Green Solutionist of the Day for September 10. Today’s new Seeing Green Podcast episode is a spotlight on this brand (links in comments to the episode). Next Level VG is on a mission – to make plant-based food craveable, familiar and fun — meeting consumers where they are and removing the friction that often comes with “better for you” choices. Created in early 2024 when Next Level Burger acquired Veggie Grill by Next Level, this combined brand will offer nearly 100 menu options as it rolls out its combined format across its footprint. From stacked burgers and hearty bowls to creative dishes like vegan salmon and truffle mac and cheese, their approach speaks to the curious middle of consumers — flexitarians and families looking to eat greener without giving up flavor or joy. It’s a powerful example of how scaling plant-based dining can accelerate cultural change, one satisfying meal at a time. Give the attached Seeing Green Podcast clip a quick listen (just 60 seconds). If curious to hear more, check out the full episode available where you access podcasts (links in comments). Thank you to Matthew de Gruyter, Cierra de Gruyter and the entire Next Level Veggie Grill team for all that you do!

WOW, this is what it’s all about. 🔥 Last Thursday, we hosted a launch party for our new All American Vegan menu where our CEO and co-founder Matthew de Gruyter had a chance to share our Next Level mission while our guests enjoyed samples of 9 new dishes from the menu. Shaka Smith said it best in his recap Reel: “You had me at living wage 👏🏿 this isn’t a food post, it’s a community post. Not only am I inspired by this delicious new menu, I’m inspired by the way @veggiegrill and Next Level Burger is entering the chat ➡️ bold, unapologetic and leaving no one behind, including everyone who works to bring a menu like this to our tables. The food tastes better when you know no animals were harmed and the community is thriving, not just surviving. It’s not just about what’s on the plate… it’s about the people, the planet, and the purpose behind it. Proud to support brands that are doing better because they know better.” That’s Next Level. #VeganForThePeople #LivingWageMatters #NextLevelKindness #VeggieGrill #VeganMenu #AllAmerican https://lnkd.in/gTdMcJRu

While we'd otherwise hate to see our CFO fall off the "no longer eating steak" wagon, we can celebrate that this badass Protein Plate is 100% vegan and 100% awesome, come and get it on our All American Vegan menu at your local Veggie Grill by Next Level, dine in only #eatgoodfood #eatplants
I quit. I’m eating steak again. Couldn’t take it anymore — the temptation, the flavor, the sizzle – the perfect complement to date night and a glass of wine. It’s been too long for this Midwesterner… Except this steak? It’s totally plant based. And it’s insanely good. ▪︎You want protein? 28g in this baby. 32% of daily allowance. Perfect for my spreadsheeting muscles. ▪︎Zero Cholesterol ▪︎Scored 9/10 and 10/10 from the pickiest eaters in my house, despite my poor cooking skills ▪︎Totally vegan of course – great for the animals, great for the planet, great for your health. Oh, and guess what? This Beyond Meat steak filet isn’t even in grocery stores yet. You can only get it at our Veggie Grill by Next Level stores starting July 4th with the launch of our All-American Vegan (AAV) menu. Our Chef and CVO Cierra de Gruyter worked her magic with this one — and our culinary teams are making it even better. Available only for dine-in after 3pm — because this steak deserves a proper plate. Come see what the future of steak tastes like.
