On February 17, I am excited to represent Universal Fuel Technologies at the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Ideathon hosted by Lux Research and to share our vision for scalable SAF production based on flexible pathways from diverse biobased feedstocks. Many thanks to the Lux Research team for creating a platform that connects startups, industry, and experts around real-world solutions for aviation decarbonization.

Universal Fuel Technologies is proud to participate in Lux Research’s February Ideathon focused on Sustainable Aviation Fuel, where our VP Engineering, Denis Pchelintsev, Ph.D., will present our #Flexiforming technology for producing #SAF components and renewable aromatics from multiple biobased feedstocks. Flexiforming’s flexible two‑stage catalytic process enables cost-effective, drop-in SAF and/or renewable gasoline production, supporting a transition to low-carbon fuels while leveraging refineries' infrastructure.

These fuels — including biofuels, hydrogen, and e-fuels — are positioned as essential to decarbonizing transport and aviation. But hitting these targets will require aligned standards, major investment, and reliable feedstock availability. The article emphasizes the gap between ambition and execution: the world wants more clean fuels, but supply chains and technologies need to catch up. At O’Hare the airline will receive around 1 million gallons of neat #SAF at a minimum 30% blend; at Miami about 3 million gallons blended at 30%. These moves establish FedEx as the first U.S. all-cargo carrier to deploy #SAF at those hubs and highlight the rising demand for supply.
