TYLin experts from across North America, Europe, and LATAM will be attending the ITA World Tunnel Congress 2026 (WTC2026) in Montreal next week. This year’s theme, Connecting Communities through Underground Infrastructure, speaks to how cities are thinking differently about tunneling to improve how people move, connect, and experience their communities. Our global tunneling team, including Néstor Rubiralta, Moreno Pescara, and Gerardo González Ardila, will be part of that conversation. Connect with us at Booth D2207. #TYLinConnects #WTC2026 #WorldTunnelCongress #Tunnelling #UndergroundInfrastructure
Looking forward to presenting at the ITA World Tunnel Congress 2026 (WTC2026), May 18–21 in Montreal! Néstor Rubiralta will present the paper “TBM Rescue Under Extreme Conditions: An Engineered Response to Tunnel Collapse at MTKVari HPP”. 📅 Tuesday, May 19 🕘 9:10–9:25 📍 Track 1 (511 AD) The MTKVari case highlights how the integration of global design expertise with local construction experience—supported by direct on-site designer involvement—enabled continuous control, rapid response to evolving conditions, and safe operations in extremely challenging ground. It stands as a benchmark for tunnelling in deep, deformable and water-sensitive formations, demonstrating that engineering integration, adaptability, and real-time feedback between field and design are essential for risk control and TBM recovery. Looking forward to connecting with clients and partners, exchanging ideas, and sharing insights from our projects across North America and beyond. TYLin will be present with teams from the USA, Canada, and Europe—come visit us at Booth D2207. #WTC2026 #WorldTunnelCongress #Tunnelling #TBM #UndergroundInfrastructure

Chicago just reached a major milestone: more than 500 miles of bikeways now connect communities across the city. Our team has supported Chicago Department of Transportation’s cycling, safety, and mobility efforts for nearly three decades through multi-modal planning, data-driven design, and sustained community relationships. As transportation leaders gather this week for the annual NACTO (National Association of City Transportation Officials) Designing Cities Conference, we’re highlighting how they’ve worked to advance infrastructure and programs that make it easier for Chicagoans to walk, bike, ride transit, and move safely through their neighborhoods. Siddharth Shah, John Pickering, AICP, Allison Porton, and Calvin Graham, PE explore how Chicago reached this milestone and what it means for safer, more connected streets across the city: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gYGcBiAJ #TYLinConnects #ActiveTransportation #VisionZero #DesigningCities2026 Photo credit: Chicago Department of Transportation

Our water, buildings, and transportation teams were at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Awards, where they celebrated the innovation, creativity, and collaboration that shaped the best engineering projects of the year. Brandon Cooper, PE, Arthur A. Jones-Dove , PE, CCM, MBA, PMP, PgMP, Sheila Wulff B.A, MPhil, LLB, LLM, Michael A. Shamma, P.E., Christopher Ruiz, and John Daza attended alongside industry peers and partners, including our client partner Susan Hamilton from the City of Richmond, Virginia who joined us to celebrate the recognition of the Chimborazo Drop Shaft and Sewer Replacement. We’re proud of our teams that delivered three outstanding projects and earned national recognition: an ingenious use of concrete for the Symphony Park Hotel Façade Panels in Miami Beach, Florida, a complex and precise operation to replace a sewer under a historic park in Richmond, Virginia, and the largest urban freeway reconstruction in Phoenix, Arizona. Risk is not being transferred anymore. It is being managed differently. This theme emerged constantly across the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Transportation/Aviation Conference, and a few key shifts stood out: ▪️Risk is moving earlier into planning and decision-making ▪️Transparency is becoming essential through open-book pricing and active risk tracking ▪️Digital delivery is now expected, not optional ▪️Progressive Design-Build is growing because it allows teams to align before committing to cost This evolution points to a clear direction for how complex infrastructure programs will be delivered moving forward. And teams that create the conditions for better decisions, earlier in the process, and with clear ownership of risk will lead the pack. Our own leaders, Susan McCann, Assoc. DBIA and Jeff Burdick, PE, DBIA, explored this further in a recent Insights article on rethinking risk: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gsABgCAz #TYLinConnects #DBIA #ProgressiveDesignBuild

In recognition of Construction Safety Week, Evan Edbom, CRSP, CPHR, global safety director for TYLin, Introba, and Landrum & Brown, shares why and how the AEC industry is moving toward a prevention-first approach. By identifying risks earlier, strengthening collaboration between design and field teams, and considering both workers and the public, project teams can help eliminate hazards before construction begins. Read his insights about how early decisions are shaping safer projects: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gNqiEX34 #TYLinConnects #ConstructionSafetyWeek #GenerousMindset
