Happy Anniversary TRP! For 36 years, The Resurrection Project has been rooted in community—building affordable housing, organizing for change, and standing alongside immigrant families in the fight for dignity and justice. Each part of our work is connected: stable homes, empowered neighbors, and protected communities. Together, they create the foundation for families to thrive and for future generations to rise. 36 years of building, organizing, and advocating—and we’re just getting started. 💛

Today, volunteers joined our Immigrant Justice Organizing Team to distribute over 100 Know Your Rights materials down 18th Street in Pilsen. 🙌 Neighbors showing up for neighbors, block by block, keeping each other informed. That's how we stay protected. Want to join us next time? Sign up to canvass with us at https://lnkd.in/gvnzmYiA

At Casa Heritage, home is more than a place—it’s the people who make you feel seen, supported, and valued. :yellow_heart: For Ms. Alice Watkins, 92, that includes Jorge, her property manager, whose kindness shows up in everyday moments—helping with small tasks, sharing conversations, and simply being there. It’s this care and connection that make Casa Heritage not just where she lives, but where she truly belongs. Because when you feel cared for, you don’t just live somewhere—you #lovewhereyoulive 🔗 Click here to read the full story: https://bit.ly/4eMVQJ0

Last week, I was honored to receive the 2026 Liberty Bell Award from The Chicago Bar Association, which is given each year to a non-lawyer who has contributed to the administration of justice. Really, this award is for the entire team at TRP who uplifts Immigrant Justice and Housing Justice every day. I’m deeply grateful to Berto Aguayo for this nomination. It is very meaningful not only because of the honor itself, but because I had the privilege of mentoring Berto early in his journey as an organizer. To see him grow into the leader, lawyer, and advocate for justice he is today is a source of immense pride and hope for our community.

On April 29, 2026, we celebrated a huge milestone in the construction of Casa Yucatán, which now stands tall and structurally complete at 1609 W. 21st Place! Alongside our partners, Crane Construction Company LLC and Blackwood Group LLC, we ventured to the rooftop of the building, shared a meal, and signed a slab that will forever be part of Casa Yucatán—literally putting our mark on this community we love. Stay tuned for more updates on Casa Yucatán, the future home of 98 affordable housing units meant to prevent displacement and preserve Pilsen's rich culture and history as a welcoming place for immigrants and their families.

May Day reminds us our city is built by immigrant hands, resilience, and dreams. We were proud to have Fr. Brendan represent TRP among other faith leaders at the Interfaith Service beforehand, and to see TRP staff marching alongside workers and community members as thousands took to the streets. From the streets to our neighborhoods, we stand with those demanding dignity, protection, and a place to call home — because housing, safety, and belonging are not privileges. They are human rights.
