We’re excited to celebrate Naba Al Saha Medical Services Company - Alzahra General Hospital as they launch their DAISY Award program! We’re proud to partner with organizations that are committed to creating meaningful recognition and honoring the extraordinary compassion and care nurses provide every day. Congratulations to the team at Alzahra General Hospital for investing in a culture that celebrates and recognizes nurses and the incredible difference they make for patients and families.
About us
The Barnes Family started DAISY in 1999 to say a profound thank you to nurses for the extraordinary skill and compassion they provide patients and families every day. Our experience with nurses during son Patrick Barnes' eight week hospitalization showed us that direct care nurses do super-human work that is rarely recognized. We had no idea that today, more than 5,000 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing in all 50 states and 32 other countries and territories would honor their nurses all year long with The DAISY Award. Over 2,100,000 nominations have been written, describing how a nurse has impacted a patient or family. Clearly, the Barnes Family are not the only people compelled to say thank you to nurses! The strategic value of this kind of meaningful recognition is now being proven in research study after study. Impacts include contribution to a healthy work environment, nurse satisfaction, compassion satisfaction, patient satisfaction, and cultural transformation. It's remarkable what happens when a healthcare organization focuses some attention on all the good that's going on. We also honor nursing students with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students and nursing faculty with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. Through our J. Patrick Barnes Grants, we support nursing research and EBP projects with grants to nurses.

WellStar Kennestone Hospital holds a special place in my heart. It was Pat and my “hometown” hospital when we got married and had been his community care go to before we met. They became a DAISY partner in 2010. Living in Atlanta, I’ve visited a few times in the past, and for the second year in a row, I have been able to celebrate their Nurses month event. Loved being present as they gave out DAISY Awards for direct care, leader, team, educator and their internal Rose Award. The DAISY Foundation

Did you know The DAISY Award can be presented to school nurses, too? During Nurses Week, Highline Public Schools presented their very first DAISY Award to Roberta Bilic! As the first school district in Washington to implement The DAISY Award, Highline Public Schools received 37 nominations from students, families, and colleagues recognizing 20 extraordinary nurses. Each nominated nurse was celebrated before Roberta was surprised with the honor of becoming their DAISY Honoree. We are so proud to partner with Highline Public Schools and help shine a light on the compassionate care school nurses provide every day. Are you part of a school interested in recognizing your nurses with The DAISY Award? We’d love to connect with you!

Thank you, ECPI University for your generous donation and your partnership!
This Nurses Week, our community turned appreciation into action. In partnership with The DAISY Foundation, ECPI University raised $10,000 through a social media campaign celebrating “The Power of Nurses.” Students, alumni, faculty, and supporters shared stories highlighting the impact nurses make every day, with each post helping contribute to the donation. Throughout the week, campuses also recognized nursing students and faculty through events, awards, and community celebrations honoring the dedication and compassion behind the profession. After suffering a stroke, communication became one of this patient’s greatest challenges. But through every difficult moment, nurse Alexis provided more than expert care; she provided hope. Alexis took the time to sit beside him, listen patiently, and explain his care in a way he could understand. Even after her shift had ended, she stayed to support both him and his wife during an emotional moment, offering reassurance, compassion, and encouragement when they needed it most. Through her kindness and dedication, Alexis helped this patient feel connected to himself again during an incredibly difficult journey. Her compassion made a lasting impact on both the patient and his family, reminding them they were never alone. Help us in congratulating Alexis by leaving a comment!
