Behind the scenes at Target! ❤🛍 Teens learned the ins and outs of how Target operates in this off-site experience! The program started out with students getting an exclusive sneak peek of the back-of-the-house storage room. Then, they learned Target’s top guest service tips and practiced making their own clothing and home décor displays. It was an awesome day!

Providing a safe place for teens to find hope, purpose, and direction.
About us
The Bridge Teen Center is an innovative grassroots nonprofit community center that was designed around the interests and needs of teens in the suburbs. We opened in Orland Park in 2010, and have served over 14,500+ different teens and families from 128 Chicago Southland and Northwest Indiana communities. Our mission is to provide free programs during after-school and unsupervised hours where students can develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually in a safe environment. The vision of The Bridge Teen Center is to provide teens with a place to find hope, purpose, and direction. We serve students in 7th-12th grade, and also provide ongoing programs and resources to help parents navigate through the teenage years. Because student safety is our primary concern, The Bridge is managed by experienced professionals who are supported by well-trained and pre-screened adult volunteers. We rely entirely on the volunteer and financial support of the community to provide 350+ FREE programs annually for students. Currently, our funding comes from our thrift stores (31% plus in-kind supplies), foundations (26%), businesses/entities (25%), and individual donors (18%). We take every investment in our mission to heart, and strive to maximize each and every dollar we receive. We are proud of the fact that for every dollar donated, 92 cents directly supports the students we serve. In every sense of the phrase, The Bridge Teen Center is built by the community, for the community. Today, we are highlighting one of our long-time volunteers, Sue, for Volunteer Appreciation Month! Sue started volunteering at The Bridge seven years ago and has been such a wonderful part of our community ever since. As a former technology teacher, she brings both heart and experience to everything she does with our students. At The Bridge, Sue helps with many afterschool programs and even leads several of her own! A student favorite is her “Blind Date with a Book” program. Sue’s positivity and genuine care for our students make such a difference. We want to say a huge thank you to Sue for all she does and contributes to The Bridge! - #VolunteerAppreciationMonth

Girls Night In was made even more special by these three Bridge alumnae who came back to volunteer! Years ago, they walked through The Bridge doors as students themselves, experiencing the encouragement, connection, and impactful programs and events like this one. They returned to help create that same experience for current students, and their excitement to pour into them reflects the lasting impact The Bridge has in teens’ lives. We are so thankful for these ladies who gave their time to serve and share their love for The Bridge. It was truly a full circle moment and such a joy to see. 💜

Our Girls Night In event was truly a night to remember! ❤️ The girls experienced an empowering message about what “seeds” they are planting in their lives, planted succulents and decorated their own pots, enjoyed our photobooth, and had lots of delicious food and treats. They even got to take home a special goody bag! We are so grateful to have hosted such a meaningful evening where every girl could feel seen, valued, and empowered.
