We are officially less than one week out from the Boston Marathon! 🏃♀️ What began as a simple conversation has grown into a meaningful partnership that is driving real impact across Massachusetts. From amplifying the stories of our athletes to joining our Xtra Mile team for the Boston Marathon, WCVB Channel 5 continues to help expand the reach of the Special Olympics Massachusetts mission statewide. Last Thursday, we held our Third Annual State House Day... but what does that actually look like? 👀 It looks like athletes leading the conversation. It looks like stories being shared, and leaders listening. At the State House: 💬 Over 30 athletes & Unified partners came together to share their stories and advocate for inclusion 🏛️ More than 80 meetings were held with state representatives and senators ⭐ And a truly special moment: meeting with Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey Our delegation spent the day thanking lawmakers for their continued support while advocating for the funding and resources that make inclusive sports possible across Massachusetts. Because at the end of the day, nothing is more powerful than hearing directly from athletes about the impact of these programs. A huge thank you to our champions on Beacon Hill who help make this work possible, including Representative Garballey, State Senator Jamie Eldridge, Senator Michael Rodrigues, Representative Danielle Gregoire, Representative Jim O'Day, Representative Paul Donato, Representative Simon Cataldo, and many many more who continue to stand with our athletes.
