  • 27 years of friendship, and it started with an unplanned layover. ✈️ Key has been a Southwest Flight Attendant for 34 years. Stephanie, nearly 28. They've been inseparable ever since their first flight—flying together, serving on the Flight Attendant Interview Team together, and building a friendship that runs deeper than the job. Life happened, and they went about 10 years without seeing each other. Then recently, they got to work together again. It was like no time had passed at all. Stephanie says it best, "It's wonderful when you get off the airplane and your cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling all day." That's the kind of friendship that doesn't skip a beat. 💙❤️💛

  • Santa Rosa will always be part of Marc’s story—and now Southwest is too. ✈️ In 1986, Marc took his first flight out of Sonoma County Airport (STS)—a moment that sparked a lifelong love of aviation. Years later, after studying at Sonoma State and completing his flight training at STS, he found his perfect fit flying with Southwest. When Southwest officially launched service to Santa Rosa, Marc experienced the ultimate full‑circle moment, serving as Captain of the inaugural flight into his hometown. Welcome home, Captain Marc! 💙❤️💛

  • Most Pilots fly the plane. First Officer James flew the plane AND bought everyone pizza. 🍕✈️ During a traffic delay at Washington D.C.'s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, First Officer James stepped off, ordered pizza for the entire flight, carried it back aboard, and served it himself row-by-row. At Southwest, we hire for Heart. James is a walking definition of why. This is what sets our People apart: they don't wait to be asked to show up for others. They just do.💙❤️💛

When Sylvia started at Southwest, boarding passes were plastic, standby lists were on paper, and we had just become the first major airline to offer ticketless travel. A lot has changed in 25 years: our fleet, the technology, and the industry itself. What never changed? Sylvia’s dedication to the Customers and her Southwest Family. Through every evolution, Sylvia was there showcasing the Southwest Hospitality we all know and love! In true Southwest fashion, the Team at San Jose, California threw Sylvia a retirement celebration to make sure she felt the love that she spent over a quarter of a century giving away! Congratulations, Sylvia! We wish you smooth skies ahead on your retirement journey. 💙❤️💛

Every year, we have the privilege of recognizing a small group of Employees whose impact reaches far beyond their role with the President’s Award. Out of more than 72,000 Southwest Employees, 172 were recognized this year—a reflection not only of their performance, but of the respect they’ve earned from the People they work alongside every day. What makes this recognition especially meaningful is how it’s earned. These honorees were nominated by their peers and selected by their Leaders because they consistently go above and beyond and bring our Values to life in everything they do. They lead with humility. They show up for their Teams. They represent the very best of Southwest Airlines, and we’re fortunate to have them leading the way. Congratulations to this year’s recipients! We’re so very proud to celebrate you.

  • Some families pass down recipes. This family passed down wings. ✈️ For the Nicklas family, aviation has connected generations. James recently joined Southwest as a Pilot, following in the footsteps of his dad, Captain Larry, and his mom, First Officer Tamaron. Their family’s aviation story began decades earlier when Tamaron’s father served as an Air Force Pilot, inspiring her own path into military aviation where she later met Larry at the Air Force Academy. Today, James continues that legacy as a third-generation Air Force service member and Southwest Pilot. To commemorate his first Southwest flight, Larry had the honor of serving as James’ Captain while Tamaron proudly observed from the jumpseat. What a milestone moment for a family whose lives have long been shaped by service and aviation. 💙❤️💛

  • From a 5th grade classroom to the flight deck, Jane’s creativity is going places! ✈️ We recently had the honor of celebrating Jane, our Spring 2025 Adopt-A-Pilot tie design winner at her elementary school where she was joined by her family, former teachers, and friends. Now a 6th grader, Jane’s creativity will quite literally take flight as the inspiration for a new tie that all Adopt-A-Pilot Pilot volunteers will add to their collection. Standing alongside her was Captain Derek, her “Adopted Pilot” and a dedicated volunteer of more than 20 years. He shared that his Adopt-A-Pilot ties are among his most prized possessions—but this one? This one means a little more. It’s his first time one of his students has won the annual tie competition! Adopt-A-Pilot has been inspiring 5th graders since 1997 by sparking curiosity, building connections, and showing students what is possible! Because sometimes all it takes is one connection to spark a lifelong dream.💙❤️💛
