It took me a minute to process what happened this week and what it meant. We hosted two milestone events to chart the blueprint of culture and creativity: ☕ The Brewprint Social: An intimate, high-trust gathering of our RTA Leadership Council and judges, hosted by the wonderful Sara Rezaee (Kiru) at Edelman. At this pre-party, industry leaders bonded over their deep professional and personal passions, exchanging ideas and what mattered to them, fostering connections far beyond contact card scans. 🏆 The 18th Annual Shorty Awards: A completely sold-out show with electrifying energy. We celebrated the best of digital storytelling from powerhouse brands, agencies, and non-profits of all sizes, including Code and Theory, LOOP.co, MARTIN*, LA Phil, The Walt Disney Company and many more. Congrats to all the winners, finalists, and Creators of the Year: Haley Kalil (@haleyybaylee), Elias Weiss Friedman (@thedogist), Stephania Ergemlidze (@basketball), creator advocate Shira Lazar, with a special intro by Mark Cuban. As we ride the high of the excitement, the glitz, and the exploding social media mentions, my mind keeps returning to two places: 🩵 Overflowing Gratitude: To our incredible presenters (Sarah Whittle, Joél Leon, Alex Lewis, Stephanie Hind, Sara Rezaee, Angela Hanks, Kay Hsu, Scott Swartz, Dakota Rae Lowe, Sam Kimmel, Corey R Martin, Temeka Easter Rice, CDP®), talent Rob Mayhew and Jon Dretto who delivered an unforgettable evening, and to the Real Time Academy who dedicated their time to reviewing and selecting the winners from thousands of entries. The generous support from our partners Verizon, Stan, Advertising Week, Muck Rack, HUE, SipMARGS and Yobo Spirit House. My brilliant and resilient Shorty team, Edna Salcedo, Chelsea Schizzano, Mireya Salcedo, Jade Nguyen, M.S., who pulled through wild BTS challenges to claim our era, and special thanks to everyone who contributed to this celebration of victories and masteries of our peers: Jeff Barrett, Sophie J., Poppy Shen...the list goes on and I know I'm missing so many! ✨ The Human Premium: In an era where AI and algorithms seem to overload the feed, our human input, empathy, moral clarity, and unscripted creativity are what make all the difference. I feel the weight of our collective responsibility to push the industry beyond exploitative attention toward a sustainable, pro-human future of meaningful storytelling.
