SGO members, patient advocates and staff came together to Washington, D.C., for the 2026 SGO Advocacy Day to ensure the voices of the gynecologic cancer community were heard on Capitol Hill. They discussed priorities including sustained federal research funding for endometrial cancer and continued support for gynecologic cancer education and awareness through the CDC. Additionally, they shared firsthand perspectives on the policies shaping the future of gynecologic oncology. Their message was clear: continued investment in research, education, and access to specialized care is critical for patients and families affected by gynecologic cancers. The Society of Gynecologic Oncology has released Part II of its evidence-based review on endometrial cancer, focusing on updated recommendations for fertility-sparing management, systemic therapy, and survivorship. Key updates include: ▶️ Progestin-based therapy remains a cornerstone of fertility preservation for select patients. ▶️ Randomized phase III trials now support chemotherapy plus checkpoint blockade as the standard first-line therapy for advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer, independent of measurable disease status. ▶️ Molecular and pathologic testing is essential for guiding systemic therapy selection. ▶️ Recurrent disease management requires a multimodal, individualized strategy to optimize outcomes. May is Cancer Research Month. Behind every breakthrough is a community committed to discovery. We’re honoring the researchers, clinicians, and patients moving gynecologic oncology forward. There are five gynecologic cancers: cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar, and each one needs targeted research. At the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, donor support fuels breakthrough research, education, and public awareness programs to improve prevention, detection, treatment, for every patient and survivor affected.
