In this episode of the RARE series, Laura Hulley speaks with Rachele Rossi, a translational medicine director with more than 15 years of experience advancing therapies for rare neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases. Rachele shares insights into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the limitations of current exon-skipping therapies, and why the future of rare disease research must look beyond drug delivery alone to better understand RNA processing and protein translation. A huge congratulations to SciPro's three legends, Ellis Ward, Jessica Woodgate and Ellis Lentell for crushing it at the London Marathon yesterday. They all got round the 26.2 mile course on a hot and sunny Sunday with plenty of support from friends, family and the rest of the London SciPro team. They have also collectively raised over £6,000 for their respective charities and we couldn't be any more proud.

Great to see some of our team out in Boston at the Chief Medical Officer 360º Summit. As always, really valuable time spent with clients, and getting a feel for what’s shaping the biotech space right now.

Nicole Arendt and I had an incredible time in Boston this week attending the CMO360 Summit (Chief Medical Officer 360º) and meeting with several of our Boston-based clients in person 😊 The face-to-face time was invaluable, as was hearing directly from industry leaders on the key topics shaping the development landscape today. I was especially interested in the conversations most relevant to small biotech (where the majority of my network sits) - like what investors are prioritizing in 2026, how companies are being evaluated for partnerships and acquisitions, strategies to accelerate time to inflection points, etc. These elements are closely tied to how teams (especially the small/start-ups) are built and structured. I figure the better I understand the landscape I'm operating in - the better I can support both those I partner with, as well as SciPro's continued evolution as a truly consultative partner. Daniel Quirk, MD, MPH, MBA shared some advice for emerging CMOs on Day 2 that stuck with me (paraphrasing slightly): “The most important thing we can do as leaders is build strong leadership teams - people who will challenge us, ask not only ‘why,’ but ‘why not?’ We need individuals who can step into our roles and ultimately do them better.. The goal is to set your team up for even greater success than your own.” Having worked closely with C-suite leaders to build out their teams, this is exactly the mindset I look for in a partnership - leaders who are committed to developing talent, creating opportunity, and investing in the long-term growth of their people. Those are the leaders I feel most confident introducing my network to. What’s more, this philosophy mirrors how we think internally at LHi Group and within SciPro. Our “Younger You" culture is centered on building successive success from the ground up. It starts with our most junior team members, combining shared experiences, senior mentorship, and the space to take risks and step into new challenges. Experiences like this trip are a perfect example of that in action. Looking forward to meeting more of you in person in 2026. If you're local to NYC or ever just passing through - let's connect! 😊

This International Women’s Day, we’re embracing the theme Give To Gain by highlighting how we invest in women across LHi 💜 Creating space for progression, leadership and support is a core part of our culture. Across the business, we’ve built initiatives that help ensure women have the visibility, confidence and opportunities to grow. Our WIN (Women’s Inclusion Network) is an internal community that builds confidence, visibility and peer support for women across LHi. PACE, our Parents & Carers community, supports parents, particularly mothers returning to work, through flexibility, enhanced benefits and structured progression conversations. Alongside this, the Women’s Sales Board focuses on recognising and developing female talent in revenue roles, ensuring there are clear leadership pathways and advocacy for women in sales. Together, these initiatives reflect what Give To Gain means at LHi: when we invest in women through opportunity, mentorship and leadership, progress multiplies. Today we mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science 🔬 It’s a day to recognise the women leading research, driving discovery and shaping the future of life sciences, and to reflect on the work still needed to create equal opportunity across STEM. When more voices are included, science becomes stronger. Research becomes broader. Outcomes become better. Progress depends on opening doors, challenging bias and building environments where talent can thrive. At SciPro, we’re proud to partner with organisations that are committed to doing just that.
