About us
Established in 1982, the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is named in honor of the late Robert Winship Woodruff, a philanthropist and former CEO of The Coca-Cola Company. The Library serves three Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs): Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this state-of-the-art facility has become a leading repository of information resources and an innovator in the delivery of digital content. In August 2024, Dr. Kimberley Bugg assumed the position of CEO and Library Director. The AUC Woodruff Library received the 2016 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in the university category from the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). In July 2022, the Library became the 127th member of the Association of Research Libraries, marking it as the second HBCU to achieve this distinction. The Library operates as a nonprofit corporation under the Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code and is dedicated to educational and charitable purposes as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. It is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees. The AUC Woodruff Library also houses the Archives Research Center, renowned for its extensive collection of materials related to the African American experience. This includes the John Henrik Clarke Africana and African American Collection, the Henry P. Slaughter and Countee Cullen Memorial Collection, and the Southern Education Foundation Collection. Additionally, at the request of Morehouse College, the Library serves as the custodian of the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection, as well as the Joseph Echols Lowery and Evelyn Gibson Lowery Collection.

We’re proud to celebrate National Library Week alongside the American Library Association and libraries across the country.
It's National Library Week! Millions of people visit their libraries every week—and for good reason. During National Library Week, April 19–25, take time to discover what brings you joy at your library. Visit your library and bring friends and family along; encourage a friend to get a library card and discover the opportunities it unlocks; browse the shelves, join a book club, attend a program or storytime, or get started on your next creative project in a makerspace. National Library Week is filled with opportunities to celebrate our libraries and take action to keep them strong. Join in on one (or all!) of the various commemoration days: Monday, 4/20: Right to Read Day - we're calling on library lovers and advocates to celebrate wins against censorship efforts and to take action to defend the freedom to read. On Right to Read Day, ALA will release the State of America's Libraries Report, including the list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2025. Tuesday, 4/21: National Library Workers Day - take time to honor and thank the library workers at your library for all they do to impact your community. Wednesday, 4/22: National Library Outreach Day - a day to celebrate libraries meeting people where they are. Look for your library out in your community - in the bookmobile, at a local pop-up, at schools or assisted living facilities, or wherever! Thursday, 4/23: Take Action For Libraries Day - this year, we're asking YOU to show up for our libraries and take action against legislative censorship attempts by contacting Congress. Stay tuned for posts throughout the week and more ways to get involved, and be sure to visit your library and ilovelibraries.org and celebrate your library.

Thank you for stopping by! We’re so glad you had the opportunity to experience the AUC Woodruff Library and the work happening across our campuses. We appreciate your partnership and support in expanding access to STEM resources for our students.
Great spending time at the beautiful Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library today and seeing firsthand the impactful collaboration across JoVE and our customers at Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. What stood out most was the critical role the AUC library plays as a shared resource—leveling access and ensuring students across these HBCUs have the tools they need to succeed. Their commitment to expanding access to high-quality STEM content is not just about supporting coursework—it’s about empowering the next generation of scientists, researchers, and innovators. Investing in these students today is an investment in the future of STEM. Excited to see the continued impact this partnership will have not just here, but to our other HBCU's! A big thank you to the staff at Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library for being amazing hosts! Jordan P.
