Today, I’m excited to share that Modern Animal has entered into an agreement to join Chewy. When we started Modern Animal, it was because we believed veterinary care could be better: better for the veterinarians who dedicate their lives to caring for animals, better for pet owners trying to do the right thing for their pets, and ultimately better for the animals themselves. Chewy has built one of the most trusted relationships with pet owners in the world, and they share our belief that the future of veterinary care should be grounded in exceptional medicine, trust, and a deep respect for the people who practice it every day. Most importantly, nothing about your pet’s care is changing. You’ll continue seeing the same veterinary teams you know and trust, visiting the same clinics, and using the Modern Animal app, membership, and pharmacy just as you do today. The way our doctors practice medicine and care for your pets remains exactly the same. What this partnership allows us to do is continue building what we started - bringing Modern Animal to more communities, creating the best place for veterinary teams to practice medicine, and expanding access to thoughtful, high-quality care for pets and the people who love them. I’m genuinely excited about what this makes possible, and I’m deeply committed to continuing to build that future alongside our teams. Thank you for trusting us with your pets. It’s a responsibility we take seriously every single day, and I’m incredibly grateful to continue caring for you and your animals in this next chapter. 💙 Steven Eidelman Founder & CEO, Modern Animal

What does your sign say about you at work? 🌞🌝⬆️ If you ask Modern Animal's Dr. Jennifer Denton... quite a bit. On this week’s episode of Listening with Christie Long, DVM, Dr. Denton shared a unique part of her leadership playbook: asking for her team’s sun, moon, and rising to gain a more intuitive understanding of how someone tends to take in feedback or new information. Bet ya' didn’t read that in your practice management text book. Drop your big three down in the comments, and then check out the link to Listen to Listening 👇️👂️ #vetmed #veterinarian #vetleader

A lot of clinics separate medical leaders and operational leaders into different lanes. At Modern Animal, they’re co-pilots who share information and make decisions side by side. On Listening with Christie Long, DVM , Jennifer Denton, DVM, our VP of Medical Operations, talks about how this dyad approach supports sustainable care and the people providing that care every day. When context is shared, direction is clearer, and teams can move with more confidence and less friction. Comment with an emoji to let us know what feels more supportive to you at work: 💭 Explain the “why” 👐 Include me in the decision Listen to Listening👂 Full episode in the comments 👇 #vetmed #veterinarian #vetleader

Many veterinarians handle difficult conversations with clients every day. But conflict inside our own teams often feels different. On this week’s episode of Listening with Christie Long, DVM, Jennifer Denton, DVM , Modern Animal's VP of Medical Operations, talks about why conflict avoidance is so common in our field and how it can lead to burnout when we take everything on ourselves instead of working through it together. Clinical disagreements, case outcomes, communication styles, business decisions. None of it is black and white. And we are all trying to figure it out while also caring for patients who depend on us. Learning to talk through things with steadiness and respect is part of how we build healthier teams and better medicine. What helps your team communicate openly? Share your thoughts below. When we talk about being a vet for "The Animal People," Adam Greenbaum is who we're talking about, through and through 💙
One year without Baxter. One day spent proving he was never “just a dog.” I’ve been agonizing for months about how we’d honor him on the first anniversary of his death. I almost went big: “Baxter Day” proclamations, national partners, the whole thing. But every day we pass his favorite bakery in Huntington Beach. We see our friends at Priceless Pets walking rescue dogs. We check in with the team at Modern Animal who care for Sophie, Nala, and Cosmo. It finally hit us: bring joy to the people and pets who were part of Baxter’s life. So we called our friends at Top Dog Barkery and asked for Baxter’s favorite cookies with a special message. We took two big boxes of Love, Baxter cookies to Priceless Pets, a rescue we’ve supported for years, to bring some happiness to dogs and cats who’ve been through hard things. Baxter was a rescue. He would have loved this. Then we surprised Baxter’s veterinary team at Modern Animal with breakfast. They’ve cared for our family so well, and we wanted them to feel it back. That was the day. We took Sophie and Cosmo to Baxter’s favorite spots. We handed out smiles. We filmed it because love like this should be visible. Baxter was family. He inspires everything we’re building at Love, Baxter. I’ll carry him with me every day. If anything I do helps more people see that pets are family, not “just a dog,” then we’re honoring him the right way. Every article we write, every resource we launch, and every act of kindness in this community is in his honor, and your support means everything to us. Video below, please watch with sound.
