Children with special health care needs live in the space between stability and crisis yet our healthcare system is still built to respond to acute events rather than provide continuous, coordinated support. A child may see multiple specialists, remain stable for months, and then experience a sudden change triggered by something as common as an infection. Too often, caregivers are left navigating fragmented systems on their own, without consistent, real-time support. Despite representing nearly half of pediatric healthcare spending, many families still lack access to proactive, integrated care that evolves with their child’s needs. What's needed is a fundamentally different model.
