We're in Nashville this week getting the dirt on the vehicle washing industry. Jim Voss, Keith Bailey, Matt Roosien, Eric Brus, Chad Reiffer, and Amanda Heyn are walking the floor at The Car Wash Show and networking with folks from every corner of the space. Even though our focus at HCS is large vehicle systems and chemistry, there's always something to be learned from our neighbors in the car wash world. Staying connected across the industry helps us bring better insights back to our fleet partners. If you see the team, please stop and say hello. We'd love to hear about the challenges you're facing in your neck of the woods and see if HCS can help you solve them.

Choosing wash chemistry is about finding a balance between performance and long-term asset protection for both your equipment and your people. Our #1 Citric Presoak Special offers the aggressive performance many heavy-duty fleets require, but with significantly fewer hazards than comparable products. It contains 3-4 times less HF than similar aggressive detergents and zero sulfuric acid. This formula is less corrosive to glass and metal, preventing the chalky white look while protecting your fleet's ROI. More importantly, its reduced hazard profile makes it a user-friendly choice for your team. When paired with alkaline detergents like Film Fighter, you get a heavy-duty 2-step process that respects your assets and your crew. Are you getting the results you expected when you first invested in your automated wash system? Many fleet directors find themselves stuck with systems that underperform. They deal with sensors that fail, chemicals that don't quite cut the film, or service providers who don't show up when the wash stops working. When your equipment is down or inefficient, it's not just a maintenance headache. It's a drain on your ROI. We recently stepped in to help a major retailer facing these exact challenges. Their system was operational but far from optimal. We started by solving the immediate pain points. Our support technicians replaced aging sensors to kill the downtime and looked closely at their chemistry. We found they were using two identical soaps that couldn't break the static bond of road film. By switching them to a strategic low pH and high pH combination, we delivered a better clean using less product. When it came time for them to modernize, we didn't just sell them a new machine. We installed a smart touchless system with remote diagnostics and automated freeze protection. We even integrated their existing tanks and rails to save them capital. Today, they have a dedicated HCS account manager who provides a monthly cost per wash analysis. They're not just washing trucks; they're managing a high-performing asset. If you want to stop guessing about your wash efficiency and start seeing real results, we're here to help. Never miss a breakdown on fleet efficiency. #Fleetwashing tip: “Rinse with a purpose.” Especially when using a touchless process, pressure washer rinsing is how you’re “scrubbing” the surface. Here’s some other suggestions: • Keep your wand perpendicular or with minimal angle to the surface. • Rinse in sections to maintain consistent pressure. • Rinse from top-to-bottom to have better visibility of rinsing lines. • Keep your nozzle at least 12” from cleaning surfaces. • When parked closer together, use a “chopping” pattern working from top-to-bottom and front-to-back. #Truckwashing #Truckwash #Touchlesswash #TipsAndTechniques #Pressurewash #Pressurewashing #Powerwash #Powerwashing #Fleetcleaning #Fleetmaintenance #Fleet #HydroChemSystems

Is your wash process actually EPA compliant? Most fleet managers know that keeping trucks clean is part of asset protection. But if your wash water is heading straight into a storm drain, you might be at risk for more than just a dirty fleet. To stay in compliance with the Clean Water Act, you have to prevent contaminated water from entering storm drains or natural water sources. Even if you use biodegradable detergents or a 2-step process, the runoff still carries road film, oils, and metals from the vehicles themselves. The rules can change depending on where you operate. Some local areas might allow for landscape filtering, while others require full capture and recovery. Checking with your local resources now is a lot cheaper than dealing with a violation later. If you need help evaluating your setup to see if a reclaim system makes sense for your ROI, we're here to help you navigate it.
