  • We are fortunate to have Kyla on the Haven Hospice team! After completing a dementia-related training in the community, we received a letter praising Kyla for a job well-done. It included the following: "Please know that Kyla is a tremendous asset to your organization. You should be incredibly proud to have her as part of your team. Her professionalism, knowledge, and ability to engage others set a very high standard, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have learned from her." • Haven patient Gwen West, pictured here with current volunteer Mary Jane Deas, was a long-time Haven Hospice volunteer 20+ years ago! Mary Jane went to Gwen's home to give her a haircut and they had a long conversation about Gwen's days as a volunteer. Gwen even had her old volunteer name badge, which she pulled out and proudly wore for this photo. The Haven team was happy to cross paths with Gwen. Gwen, we thank you for your service to Haven in the past and are proud to care for you now.

  • This is for our friends in Levy County! Haven's Dementia Care Program is working with the Levy County Extension Agency to provide a four-week program aimed to help caregivers and their loved one with dementia to build relationships, improve cognition, reduce isolation and improve overall well-being. • The Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center's wind phone is officially installed and can be found in the wind phone directory at https://nuvi.me/ivoedi! Wind phones are a beautifully simple idea: an old-fashioned telephone placed in a quiet space for reflection. Wind phones are especially impactful in hospice scenarios and offer a gentle invitation to pause, remember and speak from the heart. Thank you to Haven volunteers and Lake City Boy Scout Troop 85 for installing Haven Hospice's wind phone. We know many will find comfort using it for years to come 📞

  • Haven Dementia Care hosted an impactful dementia simulation at Oak Hammock, where residents could complete a range of scenarios that reflect some of the lived experiences of people with dementia. These simulations are incredibly eye-opening. If you think you or your workplace could benefit, please visit HavenHospice.com/Dementia and contact our team! We would be happy to set up a free dementia simulation at your place of business.
