We were honored to attend the annual Go Red luncheon hosted by the American Heart Association and spend time alongside incredible community leaders, dedicated to lifesaving education throughout our community. The American Heart Association provides free CPR training directly to Habitat Broward—providing lifesaving instruction and certification to our staff and construction lead volunteers. Because of partnerships like this, our build sites are stronger and safer! We are especially grateful for the leadership of our board member, Dr. Kelley Jackson, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC , whose commitment as a Circle of Red member is an important part of this collaborative partnership with AHA. It was also inspiring to witness the incredible legacy of philanthropy within the Koenig family. Their 100-year-old family matriarch attended, alongside our board member, Kelly Koenig - while granddaughter Daren Koenig Cronin shined as the Go Red event chair! It was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact that community leadership can have across generations. We are deeply thankful to the American Heart Association for their partnership, and commitment to lifesaving CPR skills, that truly make a difference. #AmericanHeartAssociation #CPRSavesLives #CircleOfRed #CommunityImpact #HabitatBroward #WomenOfImpact #BrowardGoRed

Habitat for Humanity of Broward offers a "hand up" not a "hand out"
About us
Habitat for Humanity of Broward, the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian housing ministry, dedicated to eradicating substandard housing from our community. Established in 1983, Habitat Broward has successfully built more than 300 homes, significantly impacting the lives of more than 1,200 children and adults in communities throughout the county. In Broward County’s current housing market many impoverished families spend most of the income on shelter. For countless families in our community, lack of access to safe, decent, affordable housing bars them from building the solid foundation necessary to meet their full potential in life. Habitat Broward creates partnerships between those in need and those who can help: Sponsors contribute dollars Volunteers contribute labor Homeowners contribute both - along with commitment and an indomitable will to succeed!

Family Highlight: The Falzone Family For Johnny Falzone and his wife Carli, family is everything—and right now, their growing family of four is making the most of a one-bedroom, one-bathroom space. With two young children, including their baby Vincent, daily life comes with challenges—from limited space to shared sleeping arrangements—but through it all, their focus remains the same: creating a loving, supportive environment where their children feel secure and cared for. Johnny serves as a Youth Pastor at Riverside Church, where he has dedicated nearly six years to guiding others, while Carli has a strong background working with children and now devotes her time to caring for their family. Their dream of homeownership goes far beyond having more space. It’s about stability, peace, and the opportunity to build a future where their children can grow, thrive, and feel a true sense of belonging. Rooted in faith, gratitude, and a deep commitment to serving others, the Falzone family hopes to one day open their home not just for themselves—but as a place to welcome and uplift those around them. We are honored to walk alongside families like the Falzones as they work toward building a brighter future. #FamilyHighlight #HabitatBroward #BuildingFutures #AffordableHousing #Community

Our recent CEO Build was made even more meaningful thanks to the incredible partnership of GL Homes of Florida Corporation. As a CEO Sponsor, their presence on-site reinforced the power of leaders showing up for their community. It’s one thing to believe in a mission—it’s another to help build it with your own hands. Because of our partnership with GL Homes, our construction has achieved new levels of quality and innovation. The CEO Build was located in BBI Village, a 20-townhome community that was conceptualized by GL Homes, who challenged their architects to create a community that was affordable and beautiful. We are grateful for the leadership of Maria Menendez, Vice Chair of our Board of Directors. Maria gifts Habitat with her dedication and construction savvy, from the boardroom to the build site. We sincerely appreciate Alan Fant, whose visionary approach to planning communities has transformed the way we build. We’re grateful for GL Homes commitment to service and for helping transform shared values into a real, lasting impact. #CEOBuild #GLHomes #PurposeDrivenLeadership #BuildingCommunities #StrongerTogether #HabitatForHumanity

Volunteer Highlight of the month: Delores Marshall From homeowner to leader, Delores Marshall’s journey with Habitat for Humanity of Broward is a powerful reflection of what it means to give back. After purchasing her home through Habitat in 2002, Delores made the decision to stay involved, turning her gratitude into action. For more than 20 years, she has served as a Volunteer Leader on our build sites, guiding teams, sharing her knowledge, and helping ensure every home is built with care and purpose. Her commitment has even reached beyond Broward County. In 2011, Delores participated in a Jimmy Carter Work Project in Haiti, supporting families in need on a global scale. Over the years, Delores has led countless volunteer groups, playing an essential role in building homes and fostering communities. Her leadership, consistency, and heart continue to inspire everyone around her. We are grateful for the lasting impact Delores makes each and every day.

Today, on International Workers’ Day, we celebrate the hands and hearts that build more than homes — they build opportunity. At Habitat for Humanity of Broward, every wall raised represents the dedication of construction crews, volunteers, partner families, and community leaders who believe that hard work should open the door to something greater. We honor the families in our Homeownership Program who complete 300 hours of sweat equity while balancing careers, children, and everyday responsibilities. We recognize the skilled trades professionals and site supervisors who guide each build with expertise and care. And we are deeply grateful to the volunteers who show up ready to make a difference. Because of workers — in every sense of the word — families across Broward County are creating safe places to grow, dream, and thrive. Today, we celebrate the dignity of work and the power it has to transform lives. #InternationalWorkersDay #HabitatBroward #BuildingHomesBuildingHope #AffordableHomeownership #CommunityStrong
