DEA’s story has always been about outstanding professionals working together with freedom, responsibility, and shared purpose. Fifty years ago, two entrepreneurs founded DEA with a simple belief in making a difference in the communities we serve. Today, that belief endures in our unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life and acting as responsible stewards of the built and natural environments. Thank you for being part of the journey. #DEADifference #50Years #Anniversary

Yesterday was the Sound Transit Crosslake Connection opening marking the completion of an engineering project that I joined the design team of over a decade ago… it’s MOMENTUS to see years of work and an industry first in my own backyard. It was so exciting to celebrate with my David Evans and Associates, Inc. colleagues, design team, WTS Puget Sound board, and get a surprise visit from my family! What a day special day seeing the people who made it possible and the public all present on such a historic occasion.

In the Community: Salt Lake City, Utah Located in South Jordan in the heart of the Wasatch Front, DEA’s Salt Lake City office blends technical excellence with a strong sense of community. Since opening in 2018 with just three employees, the office has grown to nearly 60 team members, representing all five Transportation groups along with Water and Environmental, Energy, Land Development, Survey and Geomatics, and key corporate functions. The team serves as a trusted advisor to UDOT and is consistently ranked among the top five firms supporting their high-profile projects. Just as notable is the office culture—built on collaboration, community service, shared traditions, and outdoor connection—reflecting a team that takes pride in delivering meaningful work while genuinely enjoying the people they work alongside.

Happy National Surveyors Week! This week we celebrate the profession that lays the groundwork for everything that follows. While surveying is rooted in history, our tools and perspective continue to evolve. DEA recently worked on the Tillamook Hangar, in partnership with our UAS partner Frontier Precision Unmanned, for the Friends of the Tillamook Air Museum, helping preserve history. The Tillamook Hangar was built in 1943 as part of the coastal monitoring efforts during World War II. Our aerial imagery collection from a Freefly Astro Max, will help engineers review the best ways to preserve this one of kind landmark in the Pacific Northwest. Keep an eye out for Frontier Precision’s upcoming LinkedIn post featuring the project. #NationalSurveyorsWeek #DEAEngineering #Surveying #UAS #RemoteSensing #LiDAR
