👏 Thank you to all the partner agencies who turned out last week for the third Cochise County Justice and Care Collective, and the first of its kind in Douglas. ℹ At the events, non-felony warrants can be expunged and a new court date booked, and individuals can also avail themselves of an array of partner-supplied support services and resources, such as sober living. Thanks to Health Director Barbara Lang, who conceived the events last year, alongside Superior Court Judge Richard Karwaczka, Justice of the Peace Janus Poppe, County Attorney Lori Zucco and Niltza Flores from Court Administration. 🏫 District 2 Supervisor Kathleen Gomez and Cochise County Administrator Sharon Gilman recently joined representatives from six other Arizona counties for the 2026 Local Leaders Summit at the University of Arizona The summit, spanning April 29 - May 1, brought a select group of local elected officials and county administrators together to learn more about major U of A research initiatives and programs with real-world impacts. This year focused on key issues affecting Arizona communities, including: 🌵 Arid lands agriculture 💧 Water 🏥 Healthcare innovation ⛏️ Sustainable mining 🚀 Space science Participants met with U of A researchers, toured campus facilities, and discussed current efforts to address some key health, environmental and economic challenges.
