We shared snacks, toured our early care and education center, and got creative working on Gala decor that will help bring the event to life. Their energy and teamwork made a big impact. Today, we are proud to celebrate our incredible Child Start team. We truly value each and every one of our early care and education providers. Thank you for the compassion, dedication, and support you give to our children and families every single day. Your work makes a lasting difference, and it does not go unnoticed. We were also honored to attend the City of Wichita Council meeting this morning, where a special proclamation was presented in recognition of this important day. It was a meaningful moment that highlighted the vital role childcare providers play in building strong families and a thriving community. We are grateful to see this work acknowledged and celebrated at the city level!

We were honored to welcome Judge Jaci Kelly and Darryl Kelly to Child Start today. It was a meaningful opportunity to share more about how we support children, families, and providers across our community, and to explore how we can continue working together to strengthen those efforts. One of the best parts of the visit was spending time in the classrooms. Seeing the children light up during a quick stop-in was a great reminder of why this work matters every day. We’re grateful for the time, interest, and commitment to our community. Partnerships like these make a difference.

Grateful to serve District 1. Today I visited Child Start in District 1. Thank you to Tanya Bulluck for the invitation. I heard directly from parents how access to quality childcare is changing lives and easing real burdens. Childcare is a workforce issue and local government has a role. From zoning to investment, we can remove barriers and expand access. It makes a difference when the city makes investments in the whole family. That’s why I’ll keep fighting for paid family leave for our city staff and push for bold action on childcare. Because when families are supported, Wichita works for all of us. #OnwardTogether #KitchenTableIssues #Childcare
