I was deeply honored, and excited, to be announced today as the new Lab Director at Brookhaven National Lab! I could not have imagined, coming here as a young graduate student all those years ago, that 35 years on I would have the chance to lead this amazing team of people into the exciting future we have laid out for ourselves! From my early days as a postdoc, through a research career, into construction projects, and facility management, to this role today, I have constantly been amazed at what can be accomplished when you have talented people working with a common mission and purpose. That is such a powerful combination. It is a privilege to be in this role and I am beyond excited about what we can achieve working together at BNL in the coming years!

We are very pleased to announce that John Hill is the next director of Brookhaven Lab. From joining our Physics Department as a postdoc in 1992, to becoming director of our National Synchrotron Light Source II in 2015, and then being named deputy director for science and technology in 2023, Hill has had long career of scientific excellence and impactful leadership at Brookhaven. Join us in congratulating Hill as we formally remove the "interim" designation from his title.

The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory completed its 25th and final run of particle collisions in February. It will be converted into the Electron–Ion Collider, which is slated to begin science operations in the mid 2030s. #physics #BackScatter https://lnkd.in/eGS8rEky

Returned to the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) at Brookhaven National Laboratory for ongoing research projects in our lab. Being at NSRL and BNL is like being at Disneyland for scientists! It was inspiring and motivating to see the operational side of space radiation research firsthand. Special thanks to the NSRL team and the staff at Brookhaven National Laboratory for their expertise, guidance, and support. And thank you to my mentor, Ashley Blackwell for this opportunity. It was a successful research trip. Experiences like this continue to strengthen my deep interest in investigating how spaceflight stressors impact biological systems and human performance.
