Congratulations to all our interns who completed the 2026 Spring Internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory! Your hard work, adaptability, and curiosity made a real impact. Keep the momentum going, reflect on what you’ve learned, stay curious, and take that next step with confidence, even if it feels uncertain. We’re excited to see what you do next and hope to welcome you back as an intern or future collaborator.

🧑🏫🧬Experiential Learning in STEM Education Our 4th grade students recently visited Brookhaven National Laboratory for a hands-on field trip experience that brought science beyond the classroom. Through engaging demonstrations and real-world exploration, students gained a deeper understanding of how scientific concepts are applied in practice. Opportunities like this help spark curiosity, strengthen critical thinking, and inspire the next generation of innovators. We are proud to provide learning experiences that connect classroom instruction with real-world application and thank you Brookhaven National Laboratory for having us!✨ #riverheadcharterschool #STEM #STEMEducation #ExperientalLearning #science

Thank you, Brookhaven National Laboratory, for hosting Farmingdale State College Day. BNL, is a national treasure of a research institute that is home to some 3,000 employees - almost 110 being FSC alumni across several disciplines! Housing the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the National Synchrotron Light Source, BNL hosts some of the most important worldclass research in various branches of STEM with a special focus on "understanding the building blocks of the universe". Thank you to the BNL team led by David Manning, martin schoonen, Aleida Perez, Eric Loveridge, and Kristyn Noren for your time with us and sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm. Thank you, Michelle (Mimi) Johnson, FSC Executive Director Alumni Engagement, for helping to organize the visit and Kevin Coughlin/Brookhaven National Laboratory for most of the attached photographs. And thank you to the many FSC alumni who work at BNL and who were able to join us and share the excitement for what they do at Brookhaven through their essential expertise - we are proud of all of you. I know our many faculty and staff from FSC who joined us for this visit were thrilled to hear how they impacted your professional lives and led you to your current roles ranging from Senior Designer for the Technical Systems Division to Quality Assurance Engineer for Energy & Photon Sciences to Chief Electrical Engineer for the SPHENIX Group in the Nuclear Physics Division. We're already planning our next gathering to discuss future collaborations. Rena Varghese Kim Nyoni Dylan M. Gafarian, Ed.D. MaryEllen DeCicco Jeff Hung

I had the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) Mini-Semester Program in the Engineering/Technical Track from January 5-9, an intensive, hands-on experience through the Workforce Development & Science Education (WDSE) focused on technical foundations. Over the week, we explored a wide range of topics including circuit design and analysis, signal processing, digital logic, data science, Fourier Analysis, and Monte Carlo methods, while gaining practical exposure through lab-style board activities and technical discussions. The program also included invaluable professional development components, such as an intern-to-staff panel, application guidance for CCI/SULI, and tours of NSLS-II and Computational Data Science (CDS) facilities, offering insight into research and careers at a national laboratory. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from BNL scientists and engineers and to collaborate with a driven cohort of students. This experience strengthened both my technical skills and my understanding of how multidisciplinary engineering is applied in real-world research environments. Thank you to everyone who made this program possible! #BrookhavenNationalLaboratory #BNL #MiniSemester #EngineeringEducation #STEM #WorkforceDevelopment #ScientificResearch
