New research from BenefitHub Intelligence: financial stress among U.S. workers isn't easing — it's accelerating. We surveyed more than 25,000 employees and the numbers are stark: → 57% of workers now report economic pessimism, up 10 points year-over-year → 55% describe their relationship with money as "anxious" → Savings & investment dropped as a top priority for 44% of employees to just 24% in six months → 1 in 5 workers feel "mentally checked out" due to financial stress And it's not just lower-income employees; 56% of workers earning $200K+ still feel pessimistic. The most alarming finding? Workers aren't just tightening budgets today, they're trading away long-term financial health to get by. Among employees aged 25–34, 34% have postponed buying a home. 22% have delayed starting a family. The good news: employees are finding ways to stretch their dollars. 92% now use discounts, cash back, or employer perks — and the data shows they're spending smarter, not stopping.
