About us
The Belarusian Diaspora Initiative (BDI) is a project funded by the European Union, supporting Belarusian-owned businesses operating in exile across EU Member States. Launched in January 2025 and running until 2027, the initiative addresses the challenges faced by entrepreneurs who have relocated due to political repression, human rights violations, and the broader geopolitical context. The initiative is grounded in shared European values of freedom, dignity, and fairness. It contributes to the development of a sustainable and connected business ecosystem for the Belarusian diaspora, while remaining independent from any political structures or movements. BDI provides targeted support to facilitate the integration and growth of Belarusian businesses within the European Union. Through a comprehensive set of activities, the project strengthens capacities, fosters partnerships, and improves access to markets and support systems. Key activities include: 🔹Capacity-building training workshops and tailored one-to-one consultations 🔹Mentorship programmes connecting Belarusian entrepreneurs with EU-based businesses 🔹Participation in trade fairs, conferences, and professional forums 🔹A dedicated business accelerator programme for start-ups 🔹Institutional visits to public authorities and business support organisations 🔹Online matchmaking and networking events 🔹Annual business summits and the Free Belarus Business Award 🔹Study visits for business support organisations (BSOs) Mission To empower Belarusian businesses in exile to successfully integrate into the EU market by strengthening capabilities, enabling partnerships, and facilitating access to essential resources. Impact By reinforcing collaboration between Belarusian entrepreneurs and European stakeholders, BDI contributes to a more inclusive, resilient, and interconnected European business environment.

On April 9, something took place that clearly reflects the scale and direction of collaboration between large business and international communities. At the Logistics Center of Żabka in Będzieszyn, a closed, institutional visit was organized for representatives of the Belarusian diaspora — not only active entrepreneurs, but also individuals preparing to enter the business landscape. The event was delivered in cooperation with Association of Belarusian Business Abroad — an organization operating within European structures, collaborating with institutions such as Eurochambres and initiatives supported by the Unia Europejska. This was not a standard visit. It was a selective, high-level event providing access to the operational backbone of one of the most advanced retail systems in Europe — a space that typically remains beyond the reach of external observers. Participants had the opportunity to see how logistics and operational processes function in practice — processes that enable the efficient daily supply of over 12,000 stores across Poland. The program culminated in a substantive session, where I had the opportunity to speak about the franchise model, network structure, and operational realities from a hands-on perspective. It is also important to highlight the broader context — Belarusians are currently the second-largest national minority in Poland. This makes such initiatives even more significant, as large organizations open up not only to collaboration, but also to sharing knowledge, inspiring future entrepreneurs, and building long-term relationships. The level of organization and engagement clearly shows that initiatives of this kind are reaching a new standard. This is no longer just networking. It is the deliberate creation of an environment where something more can emerge. #Żabka #retail #logistics #business #networking #Poland #franchise

Today in 📍#Dubrovnik, we had the opportunity to take part in the Three Seas Business Forum and the THREE SEAS BUSINESS COUNCIL sessions. The Belarusian Diaspora Initiative (BDI) was represented with a dedicated panel on “Belarusian Business in Exile: Forging New Partnerships and Investment Opportunities Across the Three Seas Region.” With over 400 Belarusian businesses in exile engaged through BDI, the message is clear — this is not just a community in need of support, but one ready to contribute. In fact, these entrepreneurs are already contributing to the EU economy and represent strong potential for 📈growth, 💡 innovation, and 🤝partnerships across the region. 🗨️ Alongside the panel, a selected group of Belarusian businesses participated as part of an international delegation, engaging directly with partners from the Three Seas region through dedicated B2B matchmaking. ↔️ These exchanges once again showed how important it is to create real opportunities for connection, not just discussion. 🎉 Special thanks to ABBA – Association of Belarusian Business Abroad for the excellent organisation of the visit and for bringing together such a strong and engaged business community! W warszawskim Centralny Dom Technologii CDT odbył się warsztat „Business Future: Make AI Work for You Today”, zorganizowany przez #KIG w ramach inicjatywy Belarusian Diaspora Initiative (BDI) – projektu wspierającego rozwój przedsiębiorczości i ekosystemu biznesowego na emigracji, współfinansowanego przez Unię Europejską.
