  • Over 100 New Jersey high school students got a firsthand look at careers in medicine during the inaugural “Teens with Stethoscopes” program, hosted by the Jersey Women Physician Alliance on March 21 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The initiative offered hands-on clinical experiences, mentorship, and real-world insight within various healthcare specialties including Gastroenterology, OB-GYN, Cardiology, Surgery, Nephrology, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Dentistry. New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill, along with co-chair Sudha Nahar MD of Allied Digestive Health, Dr. Sameera Maganti, David Nelson, Sap S., and Dr. Gloria Bachmann, inaugurated the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony—marking the beginning of an inspiring day dedicated to future healthcare leaders. Special recognition to the participating physicians, community leaders, and volunteers whose commitment to mentorship continues to create pathways for aspiring doctors. • A colonoscopy is more than just a routine procedure—it’s one of the most effective ways to detect and prevent colorectal cancer by identifying and removing precancerous polyps early. But what many people don’t realize is that proper preparation plays a critical role in the accuracy and effectiveness of the screening. In our latest article, we share practical guidance on preparing for a colonoscopy and why this step is essential for accurate screening. • In recognition of March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, we’re shining a light on colorectal cancer—one of the most preventable, yet frequently undiagnosed, cancers. Did you know? • Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. • Screenings can help prevent cancer by identifying and removing precancerous polyps early. • Early-stage colorectal cancer often presents no symptoms, making routine screenings essential. • The American Cancer Society recommends starting regular screening at age 45. Early detection saves lives—and it starts with a simple conversation and a routine screening. This March, make your health a priority and encourage those around you to do the same. • We were honored to host our Third Annual CME Conference this past weekend, uniting clinicians focused on advancing gastrointestinal and liver clinical care. Guided by the exceptional leadership of our Course Directors, Dr. Colin Brown and Dr. Jai Mirchandani, this year’s conference fostered impactful education, meaningful collaboration, and continued innovation within GI. A defining highlight of the program was the Dr. Robert J. Gialanella Keynote Symposium, established in honor of Dr. Robert J. Gialanella, Founding President of Allied Digestive Health. Naming this keynote in his honor reflects his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to clinical excellence. His dedication to building a collaborative, physician-led, patient-centered organization continues to shape our mission and inspire providers across our network. We extend our sincere gratitude to our esteemed speakers for their expertise and forward-looking perspectives, and to all who attended and contributed to making this year’s conference such a meaningful and successful event. • Proud to close out the year with exciting progress from our endobariatrics program, 4ward Wellness in Albany, NY. Since launching in 2024, we have completed nearly 20 ESG procedures and 15 TORe procedures, contributing to 600+ pounds of total weight loss for our patients. The growing momentum behind ESG reflects a broader shift—patients are recognizing and pursuing safe, effective, minimally invasive weight-loss solutions. A major milestone this year: Cigna officially added ESG to its coverage policy for patients with a BMI of 30–50. This is a significant step forward for access, and with a formal CPT code anticipated in January 2026, we expect more insurers to follow. We are also proud to share that the physicians of Albany Gastroenterology Consultants and leaders of 4ward Wellness—Dr. Bora Gumustop, Dr. Joseph Choma, and Dr. Rohit Dhingra, alongside Dr. Aryan Jain of Albany Medical Center—recently published a manuscript in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology on building an endobariatrics program within a large private practice. This work reflects the strong foundation we have established and the exciting opportunities ahead as we continue reducing barriers to care for our patients. #Endobariatrics #4wardWellness #ESG #WeightLossCare #TORe #ObesityMedicine
