At Albany Medical Center, being the first choice in patient experience, quality, and clinical excellence starts with the dedication and compassion of our nurses. During Nurses Week, six exceptional nurses were honored with the 2026 Pillars of Nursing Excellence Awards, the hospital’s highest recognition for nursing. Selected from more than 60 nominations, the honorees represent a combined 159 years of service and an unwavering commitment to patients, families, and colleagues. “These nurses represent the very best of our profession,” said Chief Nursing Officer Megan Keenan. “They lead with compassion, advocate for their patients, support their colleagues, and continually raise the standard of care throughout our organization.” Read more about this year’s honorees and the impact they make every day. https://lnkd.in/e3EJYPhP

Albany Medical Center is proud to recognize Brian Shaughnessy, RN, from the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital float pool as our newest DAISY Award recipient. Brian was nominated by the parents of a patient who described the compassion, empathy, and encouragement he showed throughout their daughter’s hospitalization. “Brian made her feel like she could accomplish difficult things by always cheering her on. He was extremely kind, caring, and compassionate.” The award presentation was made even more meaningful by a special visit from Tena Barnes Carraher, co-founder of the The DAISY Foundation, who visited Albany Medical Center during Nurses Week. She currently serves as vice president of Marketing and Communications for the foundation.
