We’re excited to announce Jiya P. the founder of We The Diaspora as the first Afro Charities, Inc. Content Creator Fellow! The fellowship is a remote opportunity inviting creators to research, design, and publish original digital content inspired by the AFRO Archives, including a series of posts and one live conversation. Stay tuned for her first post on February 1st.

For artist Lindsay Adams, archives are sites of collective memory that inform her compositions and mark-making. To collector and author Jason Reynolds, they are tangible moments from which he draws inspiration and feels called to preserve. Afro Charities, Inc. Executive Director Savannah G.M. Wood is also a steward, managing over 130 years of the The AFRO-American Newspapers publications as she creates meaningful opportunities for community engagement. Together, artist, collector, and steward will illuminate their connections to African American archival material, the ways in which they navigate archival inconsistencies and biases, and the long-term impact they hope to create.
