  • An unforgettable night of community leadership, vision, and opportunity at The 92nd Street Y, New York. Last week, the 92NY UpTide Nonprofit Accelerator, a five-month leadership and capacity building program for community driven nonprofits, culminated in a live Showcase at 92NY. Selected from nearly 350 applicants across 40 plus states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico, the inaugural cohort represents the breadth, urgency, and promise of community centered work happening across the country. Over the course of the program, these leaders engaged in focused workshops and strategic support to strengthen their organizations and prepare for growth. The Showcase brought that work to the stage through live pitches and a timely conversation on scaling impact in today’s complex world. Hosted by Logan McClure Davda, CEO of TED Conferences , the evening reflected both ambition and practicality, and a shared belief in what communities can build when leaders are resourced. As the night concluded, the energy in the room turned toward recognition, honoring work that stood out for its clarity, strength, and potential for impact. After thoughtful deliberation and an enthusiastic audience vote, two organizations were recognized: $25,000 Judges Award Zuni Youth Enrichment Project, led by Tahlia Natachu , Executive Director $5,000 Audience Choice Award Inheritance Theater Project, led by Jon Adam Ross, Executive Director and Co-Founding Artist Thank you to MetLife Foundation for their generous support of 92NY’s UpTide Nonprofit Accelerator and for investing in the future of community leadership.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, how do we make sense of the story we’re still living? America at 250 is a year-long series of expert-led, online classes exploring the history and identity of an evolving nation through its art, ideas, and political life. Rather than offering a single narrative, the series approaches America as an ongoing conversation—shaped by debate, creativity, conflict, and change across centuries. Designed for curious minds, the curriculum invites participants to build a richer, more connected understanding of the American experience by engaging multiple perspectives across disciplines and time. • Historic literary voices now streaming in the 92NY Poetry Center audio archive. What did James Baldwin sound like when he spoke about writing in real time. How did Joan Didion read the words that would later define The Year of Magical Thinking. The Unterberg Poetry Center of The 92nd Street Y, New York has digitized more than 850 literary recordings from 1949–2021, many never released before. Made possible through generous support from the Mellon Foundation, the 92NY Literary Audio Collection preserves readings and conversations with writers including James Baldwin, Joan Didion, Mary Oliver, E. E. Cummings, Kurt Vonnegut, Arthur Miller, and more. The New York Times recently explored the archive, highlighting moments that capture not just the words, but the voices, humor, and presence of some of the most influential writers of the last century. If you care about literature as a living, spoken art form, this piece is worth a read. Read the article and listen to excerpts via The New York Times. https://lnkd.in/guQjG9Pg
