What happens when bioscience meets STFC’s unique facilities?
We’re pleased to share that all Round 3 awards for the BBSRC STFC Facility Access Funding for bioscience partnerships have now been made, with applicants notified in late March. Over the coming weeks, we’ll highlight the eleven successful projects supported through this joint programme.
The opportunity supports UK business and bioscience academic partnerships in accessing and benefitting from STFC skills, capabilities and facilities to find solutions to industrially relevant bioscience challenges.
“This programme is a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved through close collaboration between STFC and BBSRC, bringing together complementary expertise to support innovation at the interface of bioscience and advanced technology. Now in its third year, the partnership continues to grow in ambition and impact, enabling businesses and academic researchers to access STFC’s unique facilities and capabilities while benefiting from BBSRC’s deep engagement with the bioscience community.
By working together, we are not only strengthening connections between disciplines but also supporting ambitious, well-partnered projects with clear pathways to benefit, expanding our understanding, addressing meaningful challenges, and contributing to a thriving UK economy. - Dr Ric Allott, Director of Business Development and Incubation, STFC"
"This joint programme between BBSRC and STFC, now in its third year, continues to go from strength to strength. To date, we have invested in an incredible portfolio of collaborative R&D projects, with businesses benefitting from collaboration with academic research experts, and with these collaborations then benefitting enormously from the globally unique expertise, capabilities and world-class large-scale facilities at STFC. The investments we add to the portfolio from this third round are exceptional, not just in scientific and commercial ambition, but also breadth of coverage – the programme portfolio now encompasses all national facilities within the scope of the programme, which will strengthen and add further richness to the outcomes and wider impacts for the UK as these collaborations scale and deliver. - Dr Lee Beniston FRSB, Deputy Director Industry Partnerships and Collaborative R&D, BBSRC”
This is a cross-council collaboration between STFC and BBSRC, both part of UK Research and Innovation.
