Because you'll be asking, “Do I need to change anything in my business?” That’s where tracked changes (TCs) come in. TCs are a version of a standard that clearly shows what has changed compared to the previous edition. Without a TC version of a standard, you would have to compare two long technical documents (the new one and the version it replaces) line by line. Outcomes are no longer enough. Stakeholders want assurance that the processes, controls and competence behind them are robust. BS ISO/IEC 17020:2026 and BS ISO/IEC 17024:2026 have been revised in response to these demands. Together, they answer a single question: how do you demonstrate trust in both results and the people responsible for them? One sets requirements for competent, impartial inspection bodies. The other sets requirements for bodies certifying people’s competence through structured, comparable schemes. The 2026 updates reflect years of use, accreditation experience and expert input through the ISO/CASCO process. They also respond to current challenges, including risk‑based management and clearer treatment of data, external services and artificial intelligence.
