Earlier today, we brought together employers, early-career voices and leaders across HR and social value to tackle a critical issue for Greater Manchester: Social Mobility. Despite strong economic growth, access to opportunity remains uneven. This event created space for honest conversations about what’s working, what isn’t and how we move forward together. Key themes from the discussion included: 💡 Inclusive recruitment practices and the importance of people who look, sound and have shared backgrounds. 💡 The need for opportunities to build skills and gain understanding of company cultures 💡 The importance of collaboration across employers, communities and civic organisations 💡 How social value can be used as a practical tool to create real pathways into employment and progression Through breakout discussions and via a survey, attendees contributed to the Social Mobility Committees Framework for 2026-27 which will be released by the committee later in the year. If you'd like to contribute follow the link: https://lnkd.in/dNKkT3pG What became clear is that collaboration is key and the impact of initiatives need to continue after an event finishes. The pro-manchester Social Mobility Committee are keen to be active partners in this important work and welcome the opportunity to collaborate. If you'd like to get involved, please get in touch! A huge thank you to Menzies LLP for hosting and our speakers Stephen Curran Nina Howells Shamaine Armstrong Geraldine Finn John Chapman
