About us

Aurora is reshaping commercial underwriting with lead algorithmic underwriting. We partner with insurers to build white-labelled, algorithmic products for complex and specialty lines under delegated authority, cutting quote times from weeks to seconds and enabling scalable, profitable growth. Our platform-as-a-service unites specialist actuarial insight, underwriting skill, and algorithmic automation. We design, build, and run the full solution, removing integration friction so carriers can launch under their own brand in months. The platform automates the entire underwriting flow for complex risks, ingesting email and schedule submissions, and supporting both lead and follow products through bind. Aurora operates two models: underwriting-as-a-service for carriers seeking advanced algorithmic capability, and a tech-enabled MGA delivering rapid quotes to brokers, backed by Lloyd’s capacity. At the centre of Aurora is a culture that values openness, initiative and thoughtful problem solving. Teams are trusted to explore ideas and build with purpose, creating an environment where progress for the industry and the people within it is a shared goal.

Last week at Insurtech Insights 2026, we joined QBE Ventures and British Marine Insurance on stage to introduce our latest Algo Yacht P&I product launch and share the story behind our partnership with QBE. As the final session of the conference, it was a standout moment for what cross‑functional collaboration can achieve. Huge thanks to Simon Pink, Frankie Hazle and the teams across QBE Ventures, QBE Europe and British Marine for making this possible. Aurora has now delivered full lead algorithmic underwriting as a service capability directly inside a major carrier, enabling email submission → quote → bind → document issuance in minutes. A major step forward for complex commercial and specialty lines. We're proud of what we’ve built, and excited for what’s next. 🔗 Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/e5ewHdSq #AlgorithmicUnderwritingAsAService #LeadAlgo

QBE Insurance and Aurora launch embedded lead algorithmic underwriting capability QBE’s British Marine Insurance Yacht P&I becomes the first live product, cutting quote‑to‑bind from days to under 10 minutes. 19 March 2026 – QBE and Aurora have launched an embedded lead algorithmic underwriting capability, operating within the global business insurer’s own governance, appetite and operational environment. Developed in partnership with QBE Ventures, the capability enables governed and fully automated lead underwriting for complex specialty risks for the first time. This innovative capability is now live with QBE’s British Marine Yacht Protection & Indemnity (P&I) product, marking a major shift in how complex marine risks can be underwritten, and positioning QBE as the first major carrier to deploy fully end‑to‑end lead algorithmic underwriting for complex specialty risks within its operations. James Orchard, QBE Ventures CEO, said: “This partnership demonstrates how strong collaboration accelerates meaningful innovation for QBE and brings new capabilities to market at pace. By working closely with Aurora, we have delivered a fully governed lead algorithmic underwriting capability that operates directly within QBE’s systems, controls and appetite - something the industry has not seen before. Launching with Yacht P&I is an important first step, and this approach positions QBE ahead of the market as digital trading and algorithmic underwriting continue to evolve.” Kevin Shallow, QBE International Markets Executive Director, said: “In Yacht P&I, speed, accuracy and reliability are critical, our brokers and clients often need documentation immediately to keep vessels moving. What previously took days can now be completed in minutes, with greater consistency, clearer auditability and richer data behind every decision. It reflects the strength of QBE’s innovative culture and the collaboration across our underwriting, operations and technology teams. This will materially enhance the service we provide to our broker partners and support the continued growth of the portfolio.” Bijal Patel, Co-Founder of Aurora, said: “Over the last nine months, Aurora has worked closely with QBE Ventures to develop our Algo Underwriting‑as‑a‑Service model, allowing insurers to adopt lead algorithmic underwriting today, not five years from now. Embedding this capability directly into QBE’s operations positions both organisations ahead of the market. QBE’s cross‑functional collaboration has been exceptional in bringing this to life with real pace and precision. We’re grateful for their openness to innovation and the collective effort that enabled the successful launch of QBE’s first lead algo product, Yacht P&I.” Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eqV8CbMG

💡 Last month we introduced our Algorithmic Underwriting as a Service proposition at InsTech London’s “Some lead, others follow: Smart underwriting and broking strategies for 2026" event. For anyone who missed the discussion, or wants a deeper dive, we've published a short article outlining how the market is moving from experimentation to scaled deployment in algorithmic underwriting. 📄 Read the full article below! Key Highlights from the Discussion: ➤ The market is moving beyond proofs of concept. Early work showed algorithms can underwrite complex commercial risks in live environments - now the focus is deployment speed, not experimentation. ➤ Aurora has evolved, introducing a white‑label Algorithmic‑Underwriting‑as‑a‑Service model. Enabling insurers to digitise their own portfolios under their own brand and governance. ➤ Smart Follow → Lead Algorithmic Underwriting. Smart Follow automated participation and capacity decisions. Lead Algo goes further by automating the full risk assessment, pricing and underwriting process for complex commercial and specialty risks. ➤ Whole‑of‑risk automation is the next major shift. Much market activity still sits in document ingestion and triage. The opportunity now is full‑lifecycle automation inside existing insurer operations. ➤ Insurers can now deploy in months, not years. One of our recent implementations reduced quote-to-bind from weeks to minutes, illustrating the impact of production‑ready automation. It was a great discussion built around real momentum. Last Tuesday at InsTech London, Aurora joined the panel to discuss what’s next for algorithmic underwriting. A clear theme emerged: 2026 is the year lead algorithmic underwriting moves from proof of concept to production at scale for insurers. During the session, we introduced Aurora’s Algorithmic Underwriting as a Service - a white‑label platform capability that enables insurers to deploy fully automated lead underwriting for complex commercial products under their own brand, in months rather than years. This represents complete automation from submission to bind and portfolio management for complex commercial and specialty lines. Insurers retain the brand, the broker relationships, and the capacity, and Aurora provides the technology, deployment speed, know-how, and operating model to bring products to market algorithmically - rapidly and reliably. It was a great conversation, and there is real momentum building across the market. Thank you to InsTech and QBE Ventures for the platform and a great evening. #AlgorithmicUnderwriting #LeadAlgo #InsurTech

Lead algorithmic underwriting is moving from experimentation to operation in complex commercial and specialty lines. Smart follow has proven algorithms can work in live market conditions. The question insurers are now asking is different: how do we deploy Lead algorithmic underwriting, complete automation from submission to bind and portfolio management, with governance, loss ratio control and without multi-year transformation programmes? Our Co-Founder Bijal Patel explores what's actually changed, why lead algorithmic underwriting is fundamentally different from smart follow, and why operating model now matters as much as the technology itself. Key insights: • Lead vs smart follow: different accountability, different operating models • Deployment speed as competitive advantage: 6 months vs 2-3 years • Sub-scale portfolios constrained by capacity, not appetite - growth hiding in plain sight • What this means for underwriting teams and portfolio performance, including the role of the algorithmic underwriter We will be discussing this further at InsTech London on February 17th. ANNOUNCEMENT: Aurora Introduces Algorithmic Underwriting as a Service Aurora today introduces Algorithmic Underwriting as a Service, delivering lead algorithmic underwriting capability to insurers, built and refined through live market execution. Aurora enables true lead algorithmic underwriting at scale for complex commercial and specialty risks, embedded within insurers’ core operations and automating the entire risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting process from submission to bind. This reduces quote-to-bind times for complex risks from weeks to minutes. Combining deep underwriting and actuarial expertise with advanced AI and Aurora’s algorithmic platform, this capability is delivered to insurers as a managed service, under their own brand and within their existing risk appetite, without the need to build or integrate complex underwriting technology. For insurers, this enables faster, more consistent underwriting, lower operating costs, and scalable portfolio growth. For underwriters, it shifts focus from manual case underwriting to portfolio strategy, risk selection, and broker engagement. This introduction reflects a broader market shift, as insurers move beyond point solutions and multi-year transformation programmes toward algorithmic underwriting delivered at scale through close partnerships, with governance and control. 🔧 Aurora’s new site is now Live, and it hints at what's ahead. https://lnkd.in/e2SiPMm3 Our refreshed site offers a clearer view of how we help insurers modernise underwriting with data and algorithms, while signalling the next chapter for Aurora. The site reflects how Aurora has grown from its roots as an algorithmic MGA into a broader solution for insurers seeking accuracy, consistency and faster turnaround in complex commercial lines. Visitors can explore how we help carriers digitise products, shape appetite and streamline workflows through AI driven ingestion of schedules and broker emails, reducing the time between submission and bind.   Aurora’s perspective on algorithmic underwriting was reinforced again this month in Insurance Thought Leadership, where Bijal Patel explored why the industry is shifting toward portfolio-level intelligence and algorithmic automation. That thinking sits at the core of Aurora's approach: freeing underwriters from manual steps so they can focus on decisions that move portfolios and broker relationships forward.   This update is just the foundation. 2026 will bring more ways to accelerate underwriting. Built on the same principles that guide us today.   Take a look at the new site and stay close for what follows: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2SiPMm3 Insurance Thought Leadership article: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAdbdP2v   We're looking forward to what's ahead.   #Aurora #AlgorithmicUnderwriting #Automation #CommercialInsurance #InsurTech
