  • A double materiality assessment (DMA) shouldn’t just tick a compliance box.  Done well, it can sharpen sustainability reporting, strengthen integration with enterprise risk management (ERM), reshape strategy, and help organisations navigate overlapping requirements like CSRD and ISSB.  In our latest blog, we explore how to move beyond “acronym soup” and use the DMA as a practical tool for decision‑making, risk integration and credible reporting.  Read the full blog here: https://hubs.la/Q04gZPzg0 If you are interested in exploring this topic further, join our webinar on 27th May, where we’ll dive deeper into the value of a DMA and share real client experiences. • Online Round Table for Airports: Navigating Progression to the Next Stage of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) 📆 Tuesday 2 June, 2026 ⏰ 08:00 PDT / 11:00 EDT / 16:00 BST / 17:00 CEST The ACA’s strengthened requirements, introduced in June 2025, have raised expectations around environmental integrity, emissions reductions, and credible use of carbon credits. These updates align with leading voluntary carbon market reforms, including the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) Core Carbon Principles. Join us for an online roundtable discussion to explore what airports need to know – and do – to progress to the next stage of ACA while embedding climate and nature considerations across the organisation. Discussion themes:  🔹 What is required to progress through the stages of ACA?  🔹 How to engage your organisation and secure cross‑functional buy‑in.  🔹 Key challenges in reducing operational and value‑chain emissions.  🔹 How to communicate your climate and nature journey to external stakeholders with clarity and credibility. • Is your Double Materiality Assessment delivering real strategic value?  As expectations around CSRD continue to evolve, organisations are moving beyond viewing the DMA as a compliance exercise and towards using it as a foundation for stronger decision-making, risk management, and stakeholder credibility. Please join us for our upcoming webinar on Tuesday, 27 May at 15:00 BST, where Anthesis experts Justine Vandermotten and Melody Stewart, alongside Melanie Janse Van Vuuren, Global Sustainability Lead at Investec, will unpack what good looks like in practice today, and what has meaningfully changed since the first wave of CSRD reporting. Together, they will explore how organisations can strengthen the value of their DMA, move beyond compliance, and build more credible, decision-useful assessments. The session will cover:  🔹 Key developments in the DMA landscape, including ESRS updates and emerging reporting benchmarks  🔹 What strong IRO articulation looks like, and how to identify gaps in your current assessment  🔹 How to use your DMA to support ERM integration, strategic focus, and reporting credibility  🔹 A live case study from Investec, including CSRD and ISSB dual alignment This webinar is designed for sustainability professionals, reporting leads, finance teams, and risk managers involved in CSRD compliance, ESG reporting, and double materiality assessments. 📅 Tuesday 27 May 2025  ⏰ 15:00 BST Register here: https://lnkd.in/g5kk3Quc #CSRD #DoubleMateriality #ESRS #ESGReporting #SustainabilityStrategy #ERM #CorporateSustainability #Anthesis

We recently supported A-Gas, a global leader in refrigerant lifecycle management, in certifying their Ozone Depleting Substances destruction facility against Destruction and Removal Efficiency requirements. This certification process reflects a proactive approach to compliance – ensuring facilities not only meet global standards, but also continue to anticipate them. As an independent reviewer, Anthesis conducted structured interviews, detailed document and technical data reviews, and a comprehensive on-site assessment. In addition to confirming compliance of the A-Gas facility, we also identified targeted process optimisations to further strengthen performance and sustainability in the future. • The European Commission has opened public feedback on the draft revised ESRS, with proposals aimed at significantly reducing the reporting burden. The headlines:  → >60% reduction in mandatory datapoints  → >70% reduction overall  → >30% expected reduction in reporting costs But the biggest changes go beyond fewer disclosures. The draft introduces support for top-down materiality approaches, more clarity around GHG boundaries and omission rules, and greater emphasis on decision-useful reporting over reporting volume. There’s still a feedback window open, but the direction is becoming clearer: simpler, more proportionate sustainability reporting. At Anthesis, we’re helping organisations navigate these changes pragmatically. From materiality assessments (DMA) and reporting boundary decisions to simplifying disclosure processes while maintaining credibility and audit readiness. The revised ESRS would apply from FY2027, with optional early adoption from FY2026. Contact our experts to understand what these ESRS changes mean in practice and how to simplify sustainability reporting requirements in a practical, robust and pragmatic way: https://lnkd.in/gnjY_ktE     #CSRD #ESRS #SustainabilityReporting #ESG #DoubleMateriality #CorporateSustainability #GHGAccounting #EURegulation #ClimateDisclosure #SustainabilityStrategy

  • This Thursday, our UK Activator Summit returns for its fifth year. This year’s theme, Show Me the Performance, reflects a clear business reality: Business leaders want sustainability initiatives that deliver measurable commercial outcomes; sustainability teams, more than ever, need to evidence how commitments strengthen resilience, competitiveness and value creation. Across the day, we will focus on how organisations are embedding sustainability into core decision-making, investment priorities and operating models, using the concept of ROI² to assess performance across both financial return and sustainability impact. Attendees will hear from a range of senior voices from established organisations, alongside our CEO, Dr Matthew Bell. The agenda also includes new research on the future of sustainability from Ben Hayman, and new data on the value of communicating sustainability from Olly Lawder and Pippa Morris. We are looking forward to welcoming a full room of UK leaders to our flagship event in central London. Attendance is now at capacity, but if you feel you might gain value from attending this half day event, we will manage any additional requests on an individual basis where space allows. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eFpsmJGx More to share ahead of Thursday! #Anthesis #ActivatorSummit #SustainablePerformance #Leadership #TheKiaOval

Scope 3 emissions dominate most corporate carbon footprints, and reducing them is essential to achieving net zero. However, accessing the data needed to inform strategic decision-making on reducing scope 3 emissions is a challenge. Between buyers and suppliers, there’s a natural deadlock: Buyers need actionable supplier data to create commercial signals for lower-carbon products and services. Suppliers can provide the data, but are unlikely to build the necessary capabilities to do so without a clear signal first. Luckily, buyers can help break this deadlock with a focus on four key levers: approaching data pragmatically, embedding carbon into procurement, making it easy for suppliers to respond, and building in frameworks for continuous improvement. Anthesis Director Michael Lenaghan walks through these key levers and how to start using them in our new 5-week guided email series on unlocking better scope 3 data.
