We’ve won the King Willem I Plaque! 🏆 We’re incredibly proud to share that DO IT Organic (B Corp™) has received the King Willem I Plaque for Sustainable Entrepreneurship. The award was presented by Her Majesty Queen Máxima during the official King Willem I Award ceremony yesterday. This recognition means a lot to us. Not just because of the award itself, but because it acknowledges a journey we have been on for more than 35 years: building organic supply chains that work with nature, are transparent from farmer to customer, and create lasting value for everyone involved. This plaque is a recognition that scaling organic takes courage, decisiveness and perseverance. Winning this award encourages us to keep moving forward, together with our farmers, partners, customers, and colleagues. CEO Hendrik Wijnen: “This is a huge honour for our entire team. During the month of April, a great number of our colleagues took on the challenge of walking 10,000 steps a day. 🥾   The result? On average, we walked more than 354,000 steps per colleague across the month and, more importantly, raised a meaningful amount of funds for our impact partner ParkinsonNederland.   Staying physically active supports a healthy body and can help slow the progression of Parkinson’s. By supporting research and raising awareness, more studies become possible, including essential research into the effects of chemical pesticides.   A big thank you to everyone who walked, supported and contributed. Maar wat als dat precies andersom is? Bij producten zonder biologisch label kies je vaak onbewust voor een cocktail aan chemische pesticiden. Wat die opeenstapeling op de lange termijn met ons doet, weet niemand. Feitelijk doen we mee aan een experiment waar we nooit bewust voor hebben gekozen. In de biologische landbouw zijn deze pesticiden bij wet verboden. Biologisch eten is daarmee geen trend of luxe, maar de meest directe garantie om die onzichtbare belasting te vermijden. Een logische keuze, en een manier om zelf weer regie te nemen over wat je in je lichaam – en dat van je kinderen – stopt. Stop met meedoen aan het onzichtbare experiment. Kies met gezond verstand. But what if it is actually the other way around? When you choose products without an organic label, you are often unknowingly choosing a cocktail of chemical pesticides. No one knows what the long term effects of this accumulation of chemicals are. In reality, we are participating in an experiment we never consciously agreed to. In organic farming, these chemical pesticides are prohibited by law. Organic food is therefore not a trend or a luxury, but the most direct guarantee of avoiding this invisible burden. A rational choice, and a way to take back control over what you put into your body and that of your children. Stop taking part in the invisible experiment. Choose common sense. This afternoon, we were surprised in the best possible way. The Koning Willem I Stichting committee visited our offices to put our entire organisation in the spotlight following our nomination as a finalist for the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Plaque. 🎉 This nomination is a recognition that what we work towards every day matters. Our sincere thanks go to all our colleagues for their dedication, teamwork and shared commitment to our mission: making organic the norm. We would also like to thank Anne-Marie Rakhorst , Tessy Miltenburg-Van den Brand, and the entire committee for bringing this wonderful celebration to our workplace this afternoon. This surprise set the tone perfectly for the final award ceremony on 20 May, which we are very much looking forward to. From phase one to phase two 🌴 Last week, our Category Manager Koen Swart visited our organic coconut sugar suppliers on Java, Indonesia. During his visit, he also saw the progress of our dwarf coconut tree project up close, as we move into phase two. Together with our local partner, we are planting a new generation of dwarf coconut trees that are safer to harvest and start producing earlier – supporting better working conditions and a more stable, long‑term perspective for farmers. Following a positive first phase with 80 farmers, we are now expanding the project. Just before the rainy season starts, we will plant another 3,500 seedlings and support 221 farmers across three villages, giving the young trees a strong start. We are pleased with the positive response from the farmers involved in the first phase, which allows us to further scale our impact in phase two.
