$75,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr

UNCOMN is seeking a Systems Engineer 2-3 (Associate/Mid-Level) to:

  • Support system development activities across the lifecycle, including design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Create and update system models using SysML (Systems Modeling Language) to represent requirements, system behavior, and basic architecture.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure models and documentation reflect system functionality.
  • Assist in developing diagrams (sequence, state, and data flow) to support system understanding and design discussions.
  • Contribute to system analysis efforts by helping identify potential issues and supporting performance evaluations.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure alignment between models and system design.
  • Support interface definition efforts and help document system interactions between components.
  • Follow established Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices, tools, and standards, with opportunities to continue building skills in this area.


This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Basic experience with systems engineering concepts and familiarity with SysML or UML.
  • Understanding of system architecture, data flow, and integration concepts.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
  • Must be comfortable working a hybrid schedule; onsite and remote expectations may vary and are adjusted as needed to support business demands.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance, granted by the U.S. Government, which requires U.S. citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual's eligibility.
  • Must be comfortable meeting DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF)/8140 requirements for Work Role ID 632 (I), obtaining professional certifications as required.


Preferred

  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Cloud Fundamentals: Understanding how the model translates to cloud components (Lambdas, S3 buckets, etc.).
    • Agile Integration: Mapping model elements to User Stories and Epics in Jira.
    • Ontology Definition: Ensuring the development team uses consistent terminology for data objects across the entire system.
  • Prior experience with or exposure to modeling tools like Cameo Systems Modeler, SparxEA, MagicDraw, and Simulink.
  • Active Secret (or higher) clearance granted by the US Government.
