The National Biodiversity Information System (NBIS), built on ArcGIS, is giving governments worldwide a scalable platform to manage, visualize, and act on biodiversity data across entire countries. Developed in partnership with Map of Life, the system delivers key indicators including the Species Protection Index and Species Habitat Index, which are now recognized under the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Guyana recently became one of the first nations to adopt the NBIS, announcing a border to border monitoring program and a commitment to protect 30% of its land and seas by 2030.
