This Women’s Wellbeing Month, we hosted an exclusive session focused on holistic wellness to support our team through every stage of life. We invited Dr Vandana Jayakumar (Co-founder & CEO, Curate Health and FertilityScience) to help us go beyond the standard conversations and tackle the real stuff: - Myth-busting hormone misconceptions. - Cycle syncing for optimal workouts and diet. - Managing energy, mood shifts, and hormone habits. - Navigating PCOS/PCOD (which impacts 1 in 5 women) and postpartum depression. Our biggest takeaway from the day? "Find small daily changes that you can slowly build your foundation upon, instead of attempting drastic or extreme changes to regularize your hormonal rhythms." Our #PeopleBehindTheBuild series continues at PhonePe. We are bringing you the voices of our SRE team to showcase the custom-built stacks that act as our engineering backbone. Next up is Neha Srinivas, a Software Engineer in the SRE Tools team. Starting her journey as an intern with the SRE tools team, Neha transitioned into a full-time role within the same group. What makes this team unique is that it sits exactly at the intersection of the SDE and SRE worlds, building the actual products and tools that our SREs use to keep PhonePe running at scale. “This journey has allowed me to grow from a learner into a creator who understands the daily challenges of site reliability, using my development skills to build software that makes those challenges easier to solve.”, She adds. Operating as a full-stack creator, Neha works closely with her team leveraging React, Vite, TypeScript and Python. Together, they are driving the evolution of our in-house Change Management Request system as well as Unify, our Universal Dashboard. Neha and her team build these in-house solutions from scratch rather than relying on third-party software utilising an in-house authentication system with finer controls and built-in auditing capabilities. This approach integrates our specific safety protocols and automated guardrails directly into the developer workflow, ensuring that every update to our infrastructure is both fast and ultra-reliable. Introducing #PeopleBehindtheBuild at PhonePe A new series where we bring you the voices of our SRE team, their engineering reliability and our in-house architecture that powers PhonePe at scale. While many see the products, we want to show you the engineering depth at which we operate and the custom-built stacks that act as a backbone to ensure billions of transactions are processed seamlessly. We believe that true engineering excellence comes from owning the stacks from the ground up. First up is Nandan Herekar, software engineer from the SRE-tools team. When Nandan joined PhonePe, his primary task was to ensure provisioning success, a critical requirement for a fast-scaling company that needs production-grade resources constantly available. At PhonePe, as scope of work also grows with the scale of our ambition, today, Nandan and his team are now responsible for maintaining critical parts of the entire PPEC (PhonePe Private Cloud) ecosystem. By building these critical layers in-house, we help our core SRE team achieve leading response times as it grants us absolute, granular control over our infrastructure from the OS layer up. Moving beyond our core infrastructure, Nandan recently helped develop a user audited generative AI tool, which allows users to safely verify and correct information during on-call situations. By building bespoke infrastructure tools and contributing back to the open-source ecosystem, Nandan and his team ensure that PhonePe remains a place where technology is pioneered. "We maintain a strong open-source ethos that means publishing tech blogs to share our architecture and also contributing practical patches back to community tools like GitLab," He adds. The PhonePe MT journey is designed to be an immersive, hands-on experience right from Day 1. To set them up for success, we curated an induction week focused on deep learning and context-building. The MTs kicked things off with interactive sessions that set the stage on what to expect, our unique culture, and the core values we put into action every single day. They then explored the broader PhonePe ecosystem through dedicated, business-focused sessions offering a deep dive into our respective units.
