Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce #AustCham India successfully conducted the second session of the India–Australia Business Navigator Series on 21 May 2026 — marking another important milestone in deepening business engagement between the two markets. 🤝 The session focused on Tax Structuring for India–Australia Business, bringing together a distinguished group of tax, legal, and financial experts for an incisive discussion on the realities of cross-border operations. Sunil Arora, Partner, ASA set the tone with a focused presentation on entry structuring and PE & talent mobility considerations for businesses operating across the corridor. This was followed by Komal Dani, Partner, Trilegal, who walked attendees through entity selection, repatriation strategies, exit tax planning, and PE mitigation — backed by real-world case studies. Nirmal Nagda, KPMG then presented on investment instruments, M&A tax imperatives, and key lessons from landmark rulings including the Tiger Global case. The session also featured an insightful contribution from Rahul Chawla, a transfer pricing specialist, who stressed the importance of early advisor engagement to ensure transactions are correctly benchmarked and intangibles are properly valued. 💡 Key Takeaways: · Right entity selection is critical and must align with operational intent · PE risks from talent mobility require proactive identification and mitigation · Repatriation and exit planning carry significant tax consequences · Anti-abuse rules (GAAR, JAAR, MLI) and treaty benefits require careful navigation · Early transfer pricing advisory can prevent costly compliance issues down the line We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, partners, and participants for making this session a success. We look forward to continuing this series with more meaningful conversations that enable and empower businesses across the India–Australia corridor. With many thanks to the Australian Consulate-General, Bengaluru, the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce #AustCham India#AustCham India in partnership with CBRE India organised a closed door CXO roundtable on Cost to Core: Repositioning India in the Next 5-Year Global Strategy, that was held in Bengaluru yesterday, 13 May 2026. The discussion brought together senior industry leaders to examine how India is increasingly evolving from a cost-focused execution hub into a strategic centre driving innovation, governance, sustainability, and long-term business value. The session opened with keynote remarks by Mr. Steven Connolly, Deputy Consul-General, Australian Consulate-General, Bengaluru, who noted the growing momentum of Australian GCCs in India and underscored the importance of the corridor from a policy standpoint. Mr. Gaven Standon, President, AustCham India & Executive Partner Ecosystem, Telstra, then set the stage with an expansive strategic overview — covering the evolving identity and positioning of Australian leadership in India, the growing footprint of Australian GCCs, the role of Australian boards engaging with India, and the broader policy landscape shaping this engagement. He also reflected on the growing alignment with global environmental and governance priorities. The ensuing discussion explored how businesses view the India-Australia corridor, touching on the identity and branding of Australian enterprises operating in India, the need to simplify the tax environment, and a deeper understanding of frameworks such as the DTAA and transfer pricing regulations. This was followed by an insightful presentation by Mr. Indrajit Shaw, Associate Director, and Mr. Nitin Rao, Head – Leasing Platform, CBRE India, who contextualised India's already established sustainability frameworks — including LEED certifications and green building standards — and the state-level policies enabling sustainable infrastructure. The conversation explored the receptivity and awareness among Indian real estate and infrastructure developers to Australian ESG practices and regulatory learnings, and whether these could meaningfully complement existing frameworks. This was particularly relevant in the context of Australian GCCs looking to grow their presence in India with green compliance as a core requirement. Participants were welcomed by Ms. Merin Devassia, CEO, AustCham India, who helped convene and anchor the dialogue. A sincere thank you to all participants for contributing their perspectives and making the session highly engaging and insightful. We also extend our appreciation to the Australian Consulate-General, Bengaluru, and CBRE India for their support and partnership in convening this important dialogue.
