Thank you for sharing this, Kevin Smith! We've seen this one before. AI isn't the problem. Dirty, undefined data is. If your team can't agree on what "active customer" means, handing them a chatbot just makes the disagreement faster. Don't be that CEO. #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #BusinessIntelligence

Another reminder that pointing your AI chatbot directly at data and using the results to run a business is asking for disaster. If you don’t have a semantic layer to ensure definitions and uses between your data and your AI (or BI), you’re headed for problems. In this case, I’m guessing that the metric definitions were baked into the company’s BI and when they ripped out the BI tool, the AI was left to guess at proper data definitions. Big mistake.

GitHub Copilot can write the code. But can it build architects?   One of the most powerful moments in our conversation with Home Hardware Stores Limited's tech leadership team:   If junior engineers rely heavily on AI… Will they still develop deep system thinking?   The balance between velocity and craftsmanship is becoming the defining leadership challenge of this decade.   In this clip from our DataBrew episode, How AI Is Transforming Software Engineering & DevOps with Danny Valentino of Home Hardware Stores Limited, we unpack how they’re solving it. AI is not here to eliminate technical roles. It's here to compress low-leverage work. In another 1 minute clip from from The Data Brew, where we sat down with Brock Rowlands, MBA and John Galbraith of Evormore, a Canadian AI implementation company, to talk about how AI is shifting teams away from repetitive execution and toward strategic systems thinking. What tasks would you automate first? #AIEngineering #Automation #FutureOfWork #DataTeams

Most companies measure AI ROI the wrong way, leaders often ask: “What’s the ROI of AI?” But according to John Galbraith, from Evormore a Canadian AI implementation company, the real question is: What are you actually investing in? Buying a ChatGPT license isn’t really an investment. It’s just another line item. In this clip, John explains why many organizations confuse AI spending with AI investing — and why real ROI only appears when companies build internal capabilities around data, automation, and AI. Because you can’t measure return on investment… if you never made the investment in the first place. How does your organization think about AI ROI? #AIROI #AILeadership #EnterpriseAI #DataStrategy

In our latest episode, with Danny Valentino the Director of Digital & Store Technologies at Home Hardware Stores Limited shares how they’ve operationalized AI inside their DevOps workflows — without sacrificing governance or engineering standards. Most companies think AI readiness means buying the right tools. It doesn't. In the first episode of The Data Brew, Telmo Silva, CEO at ClicData, sits down with John Galbraith and Brock Rowlands from Evormore, a Canadian AI implementation company, to talk about what it actually takes to move from AI experimentation to enterprise-scale execution. Model-agnostic architecture, real ROI, and what leadership buy-in actually looks like in practice. Watch the full episode on our YouTube. AI without data is just autocomplete with a PR budget." — Telmo Silva, CEO at ClicData. That's the energy behind The Data Brew, a new podcast about what actually happens when real companies try to make data and technology work together. Hosted by Telmo who has lived through the dot-com boom, big data, blockchain — and every "this changes everything" in between. Our two first episodes are live now on our YouTube! 📽️

AI is shaking up the tech world — and if I had a dollar for every "SaaS is dead" or "data analysts are obsolete" hot take, I'd have enough to fund my own AI startup. Honestly, I've seen this movie before. The PC revolution, the dot-com boom, Web 2.0, cloud, big data, blockchain... I survived them all with my skepticism intact. But AI? Even I can't scroll past this one. So instead of just rolling my eyes, I did what any reasonable person does — I started a podcast. It began as an AI show, but I quickly realised AI without data is just... autocomplete with a PR budget. Data is the real protagonist: it powers AI, drives business, and is at the heart of everything ClicData does. Enter The Data Brew — a podcast about technology, data, software, and business. AI will show up plenty, but so will everything else worth talking about. Got opinions? Good — I need guests. Drop me a line at telmo.silva@clicdata.com and let's brew something up. Also keep an eye on our LinkedIn page https://lnkd.in/eJCy26Ni for the official launch of the first episodes. Cheers. #datapodcast #TheDataBrewPodcast #techconversations #AI #nohype

For a week that was all about AI, the best moments were very human. 🤝 Our own Lota Chukwu was at Digimarcon this past week, connecting with some of the sharpest minds in digital marketing and coming back with a notebook full of insights. Big themes? Using AI intentionally, not just everywhere. Business objectives before channels. And knowing exactly what's in your data stack — gaps included. Sound familiar? These are the conversations marketing agencies are having right now. Real challenges, real conversations — our kind of event! Lota's notes are worth a read. 👇 #DigiMarCon #DigitalMarketing #MarketingAgencies #ClicData #AI

As more and more virtual interactions become outsourced or augmented by AI, in-person interactions become all the more precious(even though the bulk of the interactions were centered around AI). Was at DigiMarCon - Digital Marketing, Media and Advertising Conferences & Exhibitions this past week. Got the chance to listen to some insightful speakers, and have some great in-person conversations. Thought share a sneak peek from my notes on here. A few highlights from the sessions I was able to attend: - Kristin Wozniak was a phenomenal host, empathizing with with individuals is a skill of it's own; to empathize with a full group, sense the collective energy dips and come up with creative question prompts to redirect the conversation and re-energize the room was impressive to see. - 🇨🇦 Andrew Jenkins asked insightful questions on the panel session he hosted. Rough paraphrase from a side conversation that stuck with me: "Don't do social/marketing just for it's own sake. I always ask business leaders what their business objectives are, and then we work together to accomplish those using the necessary channels". - Suneel M. spoke on "Building Communities". "Every interaction counts as someone having a moment with your brand; A marketers edge is to curate authentic moments as opposed to scripted content." - Susan Diaz 🎙️spoke about auditing your organization's internal AI landscape. She shared a framework with thought provoking questions. "Can you list every AI powered tool your team uses?", "Do you know which existing platforms have AI baked in?" "Can you spot where you are paying for overlapping AI capabilities?" Very helpful to see gaps in your current AI usage, policy and governance - Dennis Yu and Liana Ling went beyond talking, they showed. They did a demo of their personal AI agent orchestration workflow. It was remarkable. Using agents to summarize, curate, post and share using your real life interactions as a knowledge base. Having markdown files (generated by the AI itself) to standardize things like "skill", "SOPs"(how-to instructions the agent can follow when carrying out specific tasks for you) etc. My head was spinning, but it was remarkable. - Victoria Kirk spoke about "Building Authority for Your Brand in the AI age". "Putting out AI slop could ruin your brand; Some brands are posting less, so that what they post can be more meaningful; Consistent, authentic and focused output are signals to humans and AI alike and can help you rank in AI searches". - Sunir Shah shared an interesting example on using AI agents for market research, validating a need before attending events and having conversations with attendees. In this case AI was used to augment in person human interactions. Fascinating. A big thank you to the organizers and sponsors. Looking forward to reflecting and applying some of these in the months ahead. ✌🏾
