What a week it has been: Last Sunday, following the opening of Hannover Messe, I had the opportunity to join a high-level exchange with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz, alongside a distinguished group of representatives from Brazilian and German industry and politics. The discussion centered on one of the defining challenges of our time: tackling climate change while building resilient supply chains for critical minerals. From an industrial perspective, the reality is clear: Without advanced magnetic materials and technologies, there is no electrification, no energy transition and ultimately no modern industry and no national security. VACUUMSCHMELZE‘s technologies are essential across sectors like electric vehicles, wind energy, robotics and humanoids, data centers, defense and aerospace, and medical applications — virtually everything that moves. At the same time, enabling these technologies requires secure access to critical raw materials such as niobium, graphite, nickel, and most importantly rare earth elements, especially heavy rare earths. Brazil holds extraordinary potential here, with world-class resources and deep mining expertise. But as global demand accelerates and geopolitical dynamics shift, the importance of reliable partnerships continues to grow. Stronger, long-term cooperation between Brazil and Europe offers a compelling opportunity: a partnership grounded in trust, the rule of law, technological excellence, and mutual respect. Because in the end, resilient supply chains are not just about resources — they are about shared values and shared responsibility.
